Today, we held Career Day at our Shoreline Medical Center! We had 66 students from five high schools in attendance. All students rotated through eight interactive stations, including ultrasound demonstrations, conversations with a physician, suturing practice, an ER nurse-led escape room, and even a tour of an ambulance. We had a very special guest, Louie, one of our therapy dogs, stop by to spread some smiles! 🏥❤️

Today, our team was at the Connecticut State Capitol for a press conference raising awareness about the importance of insurance coverage for scalp cooling therapy. Our Clinical Cancer Center Manager, Christine Andreozzi, joined and other advocates to highlight how this treatment can help reduce hair loss during chemotherapy and support patients’ emotional well-being throughout their cancer journey. We are proud to stand with patients and community leaders to advocate for legislation that would expand access and ensure more people can benefit from this meaningful supportive care.

We are excited to congratulate our most recent DAISY Award winners, Morgan and Nathan! These two outstanding nurses were nominated by a patient who experienced the life-changing impact of compassionate care.

Reflecting on their time in the hospital, the patient shared: “In a time when I was in so much pain and genuinely uncomfortable, Nathan, who works the CCU would check in on me, give me medications, and talk with me. Nathan would keep me company, tell jokes, and share interests which made all the difference when I was in the Hospital all alone.”

The exceptional support continued even after the patient was transferred out of critical care:

“When I was moved from the CCU to general admittance, my nurse Morgan made sure she was always available if I needed anything, not only did I have the call button but she provided her extension number in case I needed anything. To know I didn’t have to rely on just a call button but could use the hospital phone to talk to her put me at ease and allowed me a sense of relief that I have never experienced before. I was scared but obviously not showing it, when I was sad, when I was having a rough time, at no point did they turn their backs or turn a blind eye. They were there and they made sure I had the best care any person could ask for. I can never thank Nathan and Morgan enough for everything they have done for me.”

We are incredibly proud of Nathan and Morgan for their dedication, empathy, and for going above and beyond to make our patients feel seen and supported. Congratulations, Nathan and Morgan! 🌟🤍🌼

Spotted in the halls! 🐾

Team members on North 6 are sharing photos of their beloved to make a “pawsitive” impact on staff and patients alike. It’s a small touch that brings plenty of smiles - and one that is just another example of the big heart that defines our system.❤️
