Hello retirement 👋

It's hard to believe this is my last season dancing professionally with

I've decided to pursue a doctorate of physical therapy in the spring! As excited as I am to begin this new chapter, I must admit this is going to be a tough year of saying goodbye to the stage and setting aside my pointe shoes. Here's to all those athl etes who have cultivated a new identity, post- sport 💪
I'm sure it won't be easy but I'm also thoroughly looking forward to putting my whole self into helping the next generation with dance medicine.

Thankfully, this is going to be an incredible final season! We have a series of performances for our work on ecojustice, in addition to our normally scheduled events starting with our Fall Gala on September 26.
If you are interested in attending any of our live or virtual performances, we would love your support. DM me or check out the link below for more info ⬇️

Today is the day! We'll be talking all about these conditions LIVE at 12:30pm EST. We'll use this injury map to unpack the likely culprits of your aches and pops and which areas need to be mobilized to alleviate. Check back in tomorrow for the flip-side discussion on strengthening and muscular rebalancing for these same conditions.

How does wiggling your toes impact your migraines?

For one, when our feet our out of alignment we have to adjust something further up the chain to avoid falling over. We'll be talking about how this impacts the knees and hips in Wednesday's event. Join my Facebook group, Making FIT happen, to discover two of my favorite exercises to improve your foot health!

Ever feel a pull along the outside of your knee? A likely culprit is the ITB (Iliotibial band). This actually originates at the top of your hip in a muscle called the tensor fascia latae and attaches along the outside of your knee (along the tibia for any anatomy nerds out there). When you are sitting for extended periods of time, or have a muscular imbalance (especially in your core and hip), this TFL muscle tightens to compensate which pulls on the ITB and causes pain in your knee.
What can you do about it? Step 1- release the TFL, Step 2- strengthen the core and hips to stabilize. I used a theregun in this video, but there are many other ways to release the TFL (I’ll share my personal favorites at this event in March)

Double the joy today as a female LAT on this and !

I’m grateful for all the women in the sports world who have (and continue to) pave the way for me!
A little background: Athletic Trainers are licensed medical professionals specifically trained for onsite care for emergency and acute injury. We facilitate efficient healing to help athletes of all backgrounds recover from an injury safely and get back to playing their best, as quickly as safely possible. We specialize in sport specific training (which in my case includes ballet, modern, jazz, and acro in addition to traditional sports).
Personally, my favorite movement is helping an athlete understand their injury and move from feeling victim (or blaming their body) to confident in utilizing their natural abilities fully. Watching them beat their goals after rehabilitation is also fun, but I love that movement of empowerment the most. Whether standing on the sideline of a football field or backstage in a theater, I’m proud to be an athletic trainer and stand alongside so many noteworthy health care providers this month!

Who are the women in your life you are celebrating today?

This little mantra is paraphrased from and has been circling in my mind lately.
In Janurary I held an event all about creating effective goals, systems and follow-through to achieve BIG growth this year.
Well, I had quite a bit of travel in February and unfortunately.... I broke the chain.... and it became so difficult to restart!
BUT, this week I’ve re-evaluated my cue-craving-response-reward strategy and restarted towards my 30 days of consistency! It’s never too late to restart your day.
Here's to focusing on consistency with the smallest steps towards major goals.

We can do remarkable things!
