We need additional donors for our Adopt a Family program! 🎁 This year, we have had more families than ever applying to be adopted. Help us fill the gap—we need four more donors to provide gifts for families with individuals with Down syndrome who could use some extra help this holiday season.

Our Adopt a Family program is designed for organizations, departments, or larger households who are able to fully sponsor a family—typically consisting of at least two adults and two children. We ask our donors to provide both gifts and essential household supplies (such as toilet paper, cleaning products, etc.). The estimated gift value is generally around $500 per family.

If your group is interested in adopting a family, please email Jess at jess@dsadelaware.org by this Sunday, Nov. 23.

Please help spread the word by sharing this post!

Last Friday and this Monday, we welcomed community supporters, donors, volunteers, and a few DSA of DE family members to our Wilmington and Milton offices for Coffee, Conversation, and Celebration. ☕️

We reflected on the last year, shared giving opportunities, and began initial conversations for our 2026-2029 Strategic Plan. Big things ahead!

Special thanks to Surf Bagel for sponsoring the breakfast at our Sussex County event.

We are so lucky to have such wonderful community partners and stewards of the DSA of DE.

Matthew joined his sisters, Ellie and Ava, at Ursuline Academy today to spread awareness about the Down syndrome community! They talked about what Down syndrome is and Matthew’s remarkable accomplishments, like graduating from Brandywine High School last year. Proud dad and DSADE Board President Brian Ray also shared a little bit about the DSADE mission and the programs and resources we provide to our members across the state. Thank you to the Ray family and the students of Ursuline Academy for spending the morning learning about our community 💙💛

A special Veterans Day shoutout is due to Tim Parks, who recently ran the Marine Corps Marathon! Finishing the marathon was a special moment for Tim, as this year marks 50 years since he has been an active U.S. Marine and also the 50th anniversary of the marathon.

The milestone was made even more special by bringing Coach/Chef Leo along for the ride. Tim ran to raise funds for the DSADE, supporting the youth cooking classes that Leo's mom, Sarah, teaches. Leo also got Tim into shape as his "coach" on the path to the finish line.

Today, Leo and Tim told their story to 47 ABC - WMDT. We can't wait to see their amazing friendship on air soon!
