Have you heard about AJ’s Musketeers? Meet one of the 24 teams we currently have registered for The Delaware Down Syndrome Walk & 5K! We chatted with DSADE mom and board member Mayra about the special group and special boy behind this team:

⭐How many years has your team been participating in the DE Down Syndrome Walk & 5K?⭐
“We started [participating in] the walk in 2016 when Aramis was five months old.”

⭐How has the DSADE made an impact on your life?⭐
“The DSA was there for us when I first learned of Aramis' diagnosis of Down syndrome when I was pregnant. They answered questions, provided support and comfort. It was wonderful to connect with other families and learn about their experience. The DSA connected me with another mom pregnant at the same time as me, Angela. It's a friendship that I hold dear to my heart—all of the friendships I have made because of our connection to Down syndrome are wonderful.”

⭐What are your favorite things to celebrate about Aramis?⭐
“We love to celebrate Aramis… His smile, his personality, his courage, his accomplishments, and his milestones. We celebrate everything about Aramis because he has taught us unconditional love. To see the world through his eyes with the innocence and love that he gives is impeccable.”

💙The DE Down Syndrome Walk & 5k is a family fun day, which includes a 0.2-mile Awareness Loop and raffles, music, food trucks, face painting, caricatures, a photo booth, and much more! We also have an official 5k around the park hosted by Fusion Racing. Join us on Saturday, October 18th from 10AM-2PM at Glasgow Park. Register, start or join a team, or donate at charity.pledgeit.org/dsadewalk2025 💙

We 💙 the Blue Rocks! Our teen/adult Blue Rocks trip was one for the books. We enjoyed dinner and dessert in our private suite during a beautiful evening at Frawley Stadium. Though the evening was a last-minute doubleheader, the timing worked out perfectly where we were able to watch a full game and catch the Friday-night fireworks. We can’t think of a better night out. Catch you next year, Wilmington Blue Rocks! ⚾

This was hands down the best summer ever! This past week was our final week of Days of Summer Camp, with a large group of over 100 campers and counselors joining us at Christ the Teacher Catholic School in Newark. A huge thank you is due to our counselors who always encourage our campers to try new things every day. And congratulations to our campers for making new friends, going for the goal, and always being down for an impromptu dance party. See you next summer!

Keep moving, team! As we head into August, we’re getting even more hyped for the DE Down Syndrome Walk & 5K on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Glasgow Park 👟 We still have a long way to go to reach our fundraising goal of $100,000, but we’re so proud of the progress we’ve made so far with teams signing up, the community spreading the word, and sponsors getting on board with our cause! Now’s the time to help us dig into our goal—head to charity.pledgeit.org/dsadewalk2025 to start or join a team, donate, sponsor, secure an exhibitor table, and more. Your support helps us continue to provide support, programs, and resources to individuals with Down syndrome and their families in Delaware and beyond. Go the distance with us!

(p.s. We’re also exactly two months away from the deadline to get a free celebration poster of your loved one with Down syndrome when you register your team!)

We took over Your Creation Station on Wednesday for a night of pottery and camaraderie 🖌️ A group of 14 teens/adults with Down syndrome joined DSADE staff Nancy and Tara in Middletown to paint bowls at the studio. Before pick-up, each artist shared whether they plan to keep their bowl or gift it to someone. We loved hearing about the loved ones who are in for a treat once these are out of the kiln! If you haven’t signed up already, consider joining us for our final teen/adult trip of the summer! We’re headed to the Wilmington Blue Rocks for baseball, dinner, and fireworks 🎆 Sign up here (please note that registration is required in advance): https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/xcZ3Es6KKW7MrnXpA5Zdlg
