Celebrating the Recipients of the 2024 John Douglas Award and the ICEEFT Research Award
Dear ICEEFT Member,

We are thrilled to share the following exciting news:

Dalia Sileem-Naguib (LMFT, MA, Certified EFCT/EFIT/EFFT Supervisor) has been awarded the prestigious 2024 International John Douglas Award, recognizing her exceptional contributions to the global EFT community. Dalia's vision and relentless dedication have been the driving force behind the establishment and growth of the Egyptian Community for EFT, transforming it into one of the largest and most influential EFT communities in the Middle East. Dalia has invested significant personal resources, both financially and emotionally, into this community. She has tirelessly worked to create a nurturing and supportive environment where practitioners can thrive. Her commitment is not just professional but deeply personal. She donates countless hours of her time for supervision and support due to the hard financial situation in Egypt. Dalia's profound impact is evident in the way she uses her extensive powerful connection to bring the best trainers and experts to Egypt. This has provided unparalleled opportunities for learning and growth within the community. Her dedication is unwavering; in every supervision session, she shares her knowledge and experience with remarkable generosity and sincerity. Her tireless efforts, unwavering dedication, and profound impact make her an outstanding candidate for this recognition.

Michael Taylor and Patricia Sheldon have been honored with the 2024 North America John Douglas Award, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the EFT community. Michael Taylor (LMFT, EFCT and EFIT certified therapist and supervisor) and Patricia Sheldon (LCSW, LMFT, EFT certified therapist and supervisor candidate) formed the Kentucky EFT community in 2015. Since that time they have hosted six externships, and 15 core skills, plus other speciality presentations. They were able to bring Sue Johnson to Louisville early in their formation to present at an annual conference. Alongside hosting trainings, Tricia and Michael have lead HMTs for MS and Parkinson’s patients, HMT for therapists and an open HMT community event, They have also presented HMT materials at local churches. Both Michael and Tricia have taught Introductions to EFT at five different universities and presented EFFT and EFIT at the annual professional conferences on several occasions. Michael is an Adjunct professor at the University of Louisville, where he teaches EFT and supervises pre-licensed clinicians in EFT. For the last decade, Michael and Tricia host a local community meeting for therapists in Louisville, Kentucky and Michael has traveled to Lexington Kentucky to help grow the EFT community there. Tricia & Michael have been on TV & radio promoting the power of EFT for couples for the public at large. Together, this dynamic team have devoted many, many hours, over many years, growing and sustaining the EFT community in Kentucky. They have been motivated not by personal gain, but by a deep commitment to helping individuals, couples and families through EFT.

ICEEFT is delighted to bestow this year’s research award on Professor Martiño Rodrìguez González of the Universidad de Navarra (Spain). In collaboration with EFT trainers, therapists, and researchers in Spain and around the world, Professor González has spearheaded the development and implementation of the “Efficacy of Emotionally Focused Therapy among Spanish Speaking Couples” (E(f)FECTS) project. This is the largest outcome study of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) ever to be undertaken. Despite the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic and all of the complications and delays it caused for research endeavors across the globe, the team under Martiño’s leadership has succeeded in organizing and completing their controlled trial of the efficacy of EFCT and the processes involved in successful outcomes with participants in Spain, Argentina, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Mexico. This is a significant achievement because, in addition to contributing to the body of rigorous research into the potency of the emotionally focused approach, the results of the E(f)FECTS project will highlight the effectiveness of EFT outside of North America, where most EFT research to date has been conducted. Congratulations and thank you, Martiño!”

Please join us in celebrating Dalia Sileem-Naguib, Michael Taylor, Patricia Sheldon, and Martiño Rodrìguez González for their well-deserved recognition. We are deeply grateful for their contributions to the EFT world.

With appreciation,
