I help those who are tired and overwhelmed understand stress and give them the tools to recover through reflexology, HeartMath tools and other natural healing techniques.

It's February, and the heart gets a lot of press, but often only in terms of numbers and risk factors or flowers and candy.
This week’s blog looks at the heart from a broader perspective: heart energy, nervous system regulation, and coherence, and how chronic stress can quietly deplete this vital system over time.
If you’ve been feeling tired, wired, or emotionally flat, this may resonate.
Today is National Inspire Your Heart with Art Day.
I used to be very judgmental about the art I created. If it wasn’t “good enough,” it wasn’t worthy. Now, I understand it doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful.
Creating helps my mind shift from doing to being.
These three watercolors are little reminders that sometimes the most healing thing we can make… is space.
Do you have an art medium you dabble in? Please share!
If you’ve been carrying stress, low energy, or ongoing symptoms, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Often, the body simply needs gentle support, clear signals, and space to settle back into balance.
Over the coming weeks, I’m offering three small-group experiences designed to help you move, calm, and nourish your system in simple, natural ways, especially if you’re living with chronic illness or long-term stress.
If one of these feels like an invitation your body might be ready to accept, here are the gentle pathways I’ve created:
🌿 Tai Chi for Chronic Illness (Starts 2/17)
Slow, supportive movement that helps settle the nervous system, encourage energy flow, and reconnect you with your body in a way that feels safe and sustainable. Proceeds from this class are donated to a local charity. Meets Tuesdays at 12 N. https://LessStressinLife.as.me/TaiChiEasy2026
🌿 Self-Reflexology for Heart Health (Sat February 28)
Learn simple, practical techniques you can use at home to support circulation, emotional steadiness, and heart-centered calm. https://LessStressinLife.as.me/SelfReflexologyHeart
🌿 Make Your Own Wellness Tea Blend (Sat March 7)
A hands-on, nourishing workshop where you’ll explore gentle herbal support and create a personalized tea blend to weave into your daily rituals of care. Sat March 7th https://LessStressinLife.as.me/TeaMakeTake

As the week closes, take a moment to acknowledge how far you made it-emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Awareness isn’t about perfection; it’s about noticing where you are right now and offering yourself a breath of kindness.

Today feels like a good reminder that we rarely know what’s truly going on in someone else’s life.
Everyone is carrying something….grief, worry, exhaustion, uncertainty….often quietly and often unseen.
01/28/2026
When the world feels heavy or unpredictable, one grounding choice you can make is to tend to your own regulation. Tiny shifts like breathwork, intentional pause, or calming movement can keep us in the present.

Reflexology is more than simple relaxation.
Skilled practitioners use detailed reflex maps and an understanding of the nervous system to help guide the body out of stress and into a state of balance, where true rest, repair, and healing begins.
If you’ve been curious about reflexology or looking for a natural way to support stress relief, pain management or overall well-being, I’d love to invite you to come try a session.
Your feet, and your nervous system, will thank you. Located in the Gun Lake Wellness building.

Our nervous systems are constantly adapting to the environments we’re in. Patterns that once helped us get through hard moments can become familiar defaults, until awareness invites a new option.
Today, notice gently:
• What feels automatic right now?
• What might be ready for a little more ease or flexibility?
Small moments of awareness create room for healthier adaptation over time.
Wishing you a steady, grounded start to your week

New blog post: Inspired by time in Patagonia, this reflection explores how our nervous system learns from experience, why stress patterns form, and how awareness supports healthier adaptation over time. Read it here: https://lessstressinlife.com/1733/

This week we’ve been reflecting on healing environments and when it’s -20 outside, creating warmth indoors becomes even more important.
A simple bouquet of flowers can soften a room, shift your mood, and remind your body that not everything is cold and frozen right now.
What helps brighten your space when winter feels endless?

Weekend Forecast: 100% Chance of Hibernation and cozy snuggles
This weekend, I’ll be wrapped in my favorite blanket, holding a warm mug, and snuggling with my furry friends.
So many of us are living with stress, chronic symptoms, or low energy and quietly trying to manage it all on our own.
What I’ve learned, both as a nurse and a natural health practitioner, is that the body doesn’t usually need more “fixing.” It often needs gentle support, clear signals, and space to return to balance.
Over the next few weeks, I’m offering three small-group workshops designed to help you move, soothe, and nourish your system in simple, natural ways — especially if you’re living with chronic illness, ongoing stress, or just feeling worn down.
If one of these feels like the doorway your body has been asking for, here are the gentle paths I’ve created:

I'm Deb Timmerman. I'm passionate about helping my clients discover how resilience skills can help them build the capacity to prepare for, recover from and adapt in the face of stress, challenge and adversity.
I found myself burned-out, more than once during my career as a nurse leader. Thinking the next organization would be different, and the grass would be greener on the other side, I would engage in a new undertaking with gusto. Over time, repeating the same patterns of working too much to prove my worth, becoming physically and mentally exhausted and then months of recovery to regain my stamina. It turns out, returning to what you know, is something the brain does to feel secure.
Understanding how those patterns developed and learning to use tools to help my brain feel safe, allowed me to step out that cycle, and discover a whole different way of living. Imagine being able to use stress to fuel positive changes in your life, rather than controlling your life!
The power of the mind-body connection is truly amazing, and I love learning and sharing the science with others through group workshops and coaching. I am connected with several national researchers to stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in stress science.
When I'm not facilitating workshops or coaching, you can catch me cruising around the lake, cooking or entertaining. I’m a proud resident of West Michigan and share life with my hubby and sweet little Jack Russell, Coco. She’s taught me a thing or two about being resilient! I’d be honored to help you start your journey. Learn more about how I work on my website at debtimmerman.com You can reach me at 616-401-7199 or email me at debatimrn@gmail.com
