House Guidelines
1. Purpose
These guidelines establish rules and expectations to ensure a safe, respectful, and well-managed environment for all residents, staff, and visitors at Eden Grove. The home operates in compliance with Michigan LARA licensing requirements and provides quality care in a supportive setting.
2. Resident Rights & Responsibilities
Residents have the right to:
A. Be treated with dignity, respect, and privacy.
B. Live in a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.
C. Receive adequate personal care and assistance.
D. Make choices regarding daily activities, meals, and personal care.
E. Have access to their personal funds and belongings.
F. Receive visitors within established visiting hours.
G. Be free from abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
Residents are responsible for:
A. Respecting the rights, privacy, and property of others.
B. Following house rules for safety and harmony.
C. Maintaining personal hygiene and cleanliness with assistance if needed.
D. Not engaging in disruptive behavior that affects others.
3. House Rules & Daily Living
A. Visitors & Quiet Hours
• Visiting Hours: 9am-9pm
• Quiet Hours: 9pm-8am
• All visitors must sign in and out and be respectful of house rules.
• No overnight visitors are allowed unless prior arrangements are made.
B. Meals & Nutrition
• Three nutritious meals and snacks will be provided daily.
• Special dietary needs will be accommodated with a doctor’s recommendation.
• Residents may have limited food storage in their rooms if approved.
C. Personal Care & Hygiene
• Assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming will be provided based on individual needs.
• Laundry services are available [insert frequency] times per week.
• Residents must wear clean and appropriate clothing daily.
D. Medication & Health Care
• All medications are stored and administered by trained staff per LARA regulations.
• Residents may self-administer medications only if authorized by a physician and documented.
• Any changes in health conditions must be reported immediately to staff.
E. Smoking, Alcohol, and Drug Policy
• Smoking is not allowed anywhere on premises.
• Alcohol consumption is not permitted unless approved by a physician and care team.
• Illegal drugs and unauthorized prescription medications are strictly prohibited.
F. Emergency Procedures & Safety
• Fire drills will be conducted quarterly to ensure everyone understands evacuation procedures.
• Residents must comply with staff directions during emergencies.
• Weapons or dangerous objects are not allowed on the premises.
4. Financial & Personal Property Management
• Residents are encouraged to manage their own money but may request assistance with budgeting.
• The facility is not responsible for lost or stolen personal items unless stored in a secure location by staff.
• Large sums of cash or valuables should be kept in a locked safe or with a trusted family member.
5. Housekeeping & Maintenance
• Residents are expected to keep their rooms tidy with assistance if needed.
• Housekeeping staff will clean common areas daily.
• Any damages or repairs must be reported to staff immediately.
6. Discharge & Transition Policy
• Residents may be discharged due to:
A. Health needs that exceed the facility’s capabilities.
B. Non-compliance with rules that threaten the safety of others.
C. Voluntary transfer to another care setting.
• Advance notice (30 days) will be provided unless an emergency discharge is necessary.
7. Compliance & Reporting Concerns
• Any concerns or complaints can be reported to the Administrator Ernest J Wolf.
