It's that time of the summer.... the kids have been off for about a month, the activities are running out, and patience is wearing thin. The boredom is probably causing stress, misbehavior and fighting. We often assume our children deliberately choose to behave or misbehave. We don’t recognize that many of our children’s behavior is their body’s reaction to stress. One of our counselors, Nicauris Ubiera, tells us more and offers help in her blog "How Parents Can Help Regulate Their Child’s Emotions." https://zurl.co/m4Ofo

These days, it often feels like the "United" States is anything but. Deep divisions—political, ideological, and cultural—have carved fault lines between Americans: Republican vs. Democrat, liberal vs. conservative, red vs. blue. Even once-friendly gatherings like Thanksgiving have become minefields, where the old wisdom of steering clear of religion and politics feels more urgent than ever. How did we get here? And is there a way to mend what’s been broken? YES! We can find common ground with those around us. Our founder and CEO tells us how in her blog "We Find Common Ground in Our Differences." https://zurl.co/ye5av

Disability Pride Month has been observed annually in July to promote visibility and public awareness about the positive pride that people within the disability community feel. One excellent way that people can celebrate Disability Pride Month is by learning more about the disability community and learning ways to engage with and support them. One of the challenges that parents of disabled children face is that the normal difficulties of marriage can intensify when faced with the unique demands of raising a child with special needs. One of our counselors, Erica Realpe, discusses the challenges and delights she faced in her marriage as the mom of a special needs child, and how her and her husband developed an even stronger bond in her blog: https://zurl.co/NkYOT

Just because someone looks fine, doesn't mean that they feel fine inside. Today is Chronic Disease Awareness Day. Chronic diseases are usually only seen by those who have them. They can include Lupus, Cystic Fibrosis, some types of cancer, diabetes, Crohn's disease, arthritis - and even mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder and depression.

June was Men's Mental Health Month. But Men's mental health is often downplayed, we often think of men as strong, without problems, having it all together. But they need help too and often display mental health issues differently than women. Our counselor Robert Kaphan explains it here in his latest blog https://zurl.co/i0bEe

Learn the signs of mental health issues in men, including anger, depression, and anxiety, and discover ways to support them during Men’s Mental Health Month.
