Did you know American advertisers began using Christmas in July themes in print for summertime sales as early as 1950? There are many early documentations of note for a summer Christmas celebration including a suggestion of a cooler Australian Christmas (James Macarthur, 1827), a French opera (1894), and tradition at a Brevard, North Carolina girl's camp (pre 1935.) We are happy to have celebrated ourselves last Friday!
