Midland Children's Rehabilitation Center

Midland Children's Rehabilitation Center Midland Children's Rehabilitation Center (MCRC) has been providing pediatric occupational, physical and speech therapy since 1956.

Founded in 1956 by the Children's Service League, MCRC is changing the lives of children by providing neurological, orthopedic, and developmental therapy, in a compassionate environment, regardless of a family's ability to pay. We treat children from infant to age 22 with developmental, orthopedic and neurologic limitations. Our vision is to provide these services at little or no cost to the families. To date, the center has never charged for services and relies on the generosity of the community to be able to do so. Services currently offered:
Occupational Therapy
Physical Therapy
Speech Therapy
Aquatics
Hippotherapy
West Texas Dyslexia Center

We also offer several enrichment programs:

Did you know MCRC offers aquatic therapy?

Aquatic therapy uses the properties of water (buoyancy, drag, hydro-static pressure) to allow kids to work in a fun and engaging environment. Physical therapy and occupational therapy perform strengthening activities using the resistance created by water. Speech therapy is able to use aquatic therapy as motivation and proprioceptive input for increased communication.

Sarah, one of our speech therapist, is working with Aurora in the pool!

Meet Caitlin! She is one of our Physical Therapy students. She is completing a 10 week rotation and has 4 weeks to go!

Did you know that MCRC has over 10 contracts with different colleges and universities across the south to work with students in their field work rotations in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy? These rotations are pivotal to a studentโ€™s career and MCRC is honored to help educate this next generation of medical professionals! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

Students learn from our licensed therapists and practice evaluating and treating pediatric patients under their supervision. Rotations range from 8-12 weeks, depending on the discipline and the universityโ€™s guidelines. This fall, we are excited to have students for Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy at the Center at the same time!

All students are required to complete a certain number of clinical hours in various settings before they graduate and take a licensing exam to become a PT, OT, or SLP. We might be a little biased, but these students are learning from some of the best in their fields, and we are excited to play a pivotal role in helping them determine their career path. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Through specialized tutoring and compassionate support, these students are building confidence, developing strong academic skills, and rediscovering a love of learning. Their stories remind us that with the right tools and encouragement, every child can thrive โ€” academically, socially, and emotionally.
