Dear Friends and Valued Patients,
I write this with great thought and care, as it is not easy for me to express. However, I believe it is time to communicate something clearly and respectfully, as it has reached a point where I feel it is necessary.
As many of you know, I am an FNP-C provider in Family Practice through the State of Texas, practicing at Courtyard Family Practice. My ability to serve the public is the result of over 12 years of rigorous education, training, and commitment to this field. Over the years, I have been deeply grateful to form meaningful relationships—many of which I consider true friendships—and I hope those bonds continue for a lifetime.
That said, I must also uphold the responsibilities and legal standards that come with my profession. I am bound by state laws, regulatory requirements, and ethical guidelines. I also manage a private practice, which includes paying staff and maintaining a viable business so that I may continue to offer care to the community.
Out of respect for these obligations and the value of the service I provide, I must now clarify a professional boundary. Going forward, any medical consultation or advice offered through personal channels—such as text messages, personal phone calls, Facebook messages, or other informal means—will incur a fee for service. This is not a decision I make lightly, nor is it a reflection of a lack of appreciation for our connection. Rather, it is a matter of fairness and sustainability.
I have always done my best to be generous with my time, knowledge, and support. However, in order to continue doing so effectively, I must ensure that the work I do is respected and that boundaries are maintained, just as any professional relationship would require. I believe it is ethical—and ultimately in everyone's best interest—that time and expertise be recognized and valued equally on both sides.
I genuinely hope this message is received in the spirit in which it is intended: with respect, transparency, and care. Please know this comes not from a place of exclusion, but from the need to maintain professional integrity and ensure the longevity of the care I strive to provide.
With gratitude and respect,Kevin Salas
