🎉 Happy Birthday Chiropractic! 🎉
Today marks the anniversary of an event that changed health care forever. Let’s travel back in time together:
📅 Date: September 18th, 1895 – a Wednesday
📍 Place: Davenport, Iowa
In the Ryan Block Building at Second & Brady Street, a janitor named Harvey Lillard was deaf for 17 years. Another man, D.D. Palmer, a magnetic healer with a deep curiosity, examined Harvey and found a large bump at the back of his neck. With courage and conviction, D.D. adjusted Harvey’s spine — and Harvey exclaimed:
“I can hear!” “I can hear!”
From that single adjustment, ONE place, ONE time at ONE location, Chiropractic was born. 🌎 Over the next 130 years, it has spread around the world, inspiring multiple colleges, thousands of Chiropractors, and millions of lives changed. The legacy still stands tall atop Brady Street Hill at Palmer College of Chiropractic.
Think of the impact of ONE man, at 50 years old, daring to go against the mainstream to discover a NEW Principle and a NEW Practice that adds years to life and life to years.

✨ Celebrating Dr. B.J. Palmer’s Birthday 🎂
Today we celebrate the birthday of Dr. B.J. Palmer, born September 10th, 1881 in What Cheer, Iowa.
Known as The Developer of Chiropractic, B.J. dedicated his entire professional life to advancing Chiropractic as a distinct healing art—refining it into the Philosophy, Science, and Art we know today.
B.J. was like a diamond—many facets, each shining brightly. He carried the incredible task of teaching this new principle and practice to the world, while wearing many hats throughout his lifetime: musician, inventor, entrepreneur, lecturer, writer, researcher, investigator, and most importantly, a ChiropracTOR.
His accomplishments were staggering:
Owned two radio stations (WOC & WHO) and a television station (WOC-TV)
Owned the first automobile west of the Mississippi River
Built A Little Bit O’ Heaven, a landmark in Chiropractic history
Founded a multimillion-dollar Research Center (1935)
Built the largest Chiropractic school in the world
Was a sought-after lecturer, artist, and scientist
And perhaps most powerfully, he described himself as:
“the bit of a mortal being whom Innate Intelligence developed.”
Today we honor his vision, courage, and relentless dedication that shaped Chiropractic into a profession that continues to serve humanity.
