Meet the Owner Behind Nibi Wellness – Dr. Candice Colby-Scott, MD

Candice Colby-Scott MD is the founder and medical director of Nibi Wellness & Aesthetics, where her passion for healing, artistry, and cultural heritage come together to create a truly unique experience. Born and raised in Bay City, Michigan, Dr. Colby-Scott went on to complete world-class training—earning her medical degree from the University of Michigan, completing her Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery residency at Emory University, and pursuing a highly specialized Neurotology fellowship at the University of Minnesota. Her advanced surgical background, paired with her eye for natural aesthetics, allows her to combine medical precision with a soft, intentional approach to beauty.

Dr. Colby-Scott is deeply proud of her Native American heritage as a member of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. The name “Nibi,” meaning water in Ojibwe/Odawa, reflects her culture and serves as the inspiration behind the med spa. Water symbolizes renewal, clarity, and timelessness—qualities she believes every person deserves to embody. She often says that Nibi can be our own modern-day “fountain of youth,” not by making us look different, but by helping us look like the most rested, refreshed, and confident version of ourselves.

Throughout her career, Dr. Colby-Scott has been recognized for excellence in medicine, leadership, and community impact. She is a 2019 RUBY Award recipient and was honored with the Ferris State University Pacesetter Award for her early-career achievements. She has received the Hour Detroit “Top Docs” Excellence in Care Award and was named a Metro Parent “Mom-Approved Doc.” Dr. Colby-Scott was selected for the prestigious Oakland County 40 Under 40, celebrating emerging leaders across Southeast Michigan, and was also recognized locally as part of the Midland Daily News “20 Under 40” for her contributions to specialty healthcare in Mid-Michigan. Her accomplishments also include leading one of the region’s busiest cochlear implant programs and expanding access to advanced ear and aesthetic services for families across the state.

Yet her philosophy at Nibi remains simple: we should age gracefully, embracing treatments that enhance what makes us unique rather than chasing trends that look plastic or overdone. Her goal is to help patients look like they just had the best night’s sleep—not like they had work done.
