I believe that positive touch is crucial to our health and well-being. When you add special training and education to that need, the benefits to the body are truly valuable. My commitment as a massage therapist is to customize each individual's session to their specific needs and goals always with respect, sensitivity, and integrity. "Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well." 3 John 1:2

Email is also an option. ✅

And don’t forget that April is when the online intake form and appointment slot changes go into effect. 90 min time slots with relaxation focus will no longer be an option.

I’m excited (bittersweet may be a better word) to announce some upcoming changes to Wellness Massage Therapy.
Beginning April 2024, I will be offering 30 min, 45min, or 1 hour sessions only.

As most of you know, I focus primarily on sports and medical/clinical massage. These are my driving passion, and why I furthered my education with orthopedic classes, the Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) certification, and the Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) certification. I’m also currently seeking my certification in Functional Range Conditioning (FRC). These provide me with the unique ability to not only give manual therapy, but to legally offer my clients training and/or exercise suggestions.

Having shorter, more focused appointments allows me to hone in on just the parts of the body that need more attention with slower myofascial, cupping, scraping, movement, and stretching when needed.

While I’m still a huge fan of longer massages that focus primarily on relaxation (calming the nervous system is hugely important!), this will no longer be a primary focus for me.

I will also be switching to an online intake form. If you have previously filled a paper one out, I will still send a new one in April to keep everything streamlined and consistent on my end.

The pricing will be $55/30min, $70/45min, and $85/60min sessions.

Thank you for trusting me with your health and growing with me even though it requires growing pains!

🌿 Business has been good, and homeschooling is now in session with my kids, including one senior-(What?!).

I’ve reached the point where I have to limit clients for a season. It’s a good problem to have, but I never enjoy saying it:

For now, I am not taking on new clients. I’ll update again when this changes.

💚 Thank you to all of my regulars and other clients who have trusted me with your health! 🙏🏻

🗓️ It’s almost time for school to begin so my hours will be changing as of mid-August as we’re a homeschooling family. 😁⏰

As of August 14th, I will not be able to book appointments before 1pm so I can knock out school in the AM with my kids.

As of August 9th I will no longer book on Wednesdays. All my kids will be in co-op and I will need to be present on campus with them as well.

Thank you for your understanding!

Just passed my one year anniversary of having a set location in Midlothian instead of being mobile!
Gonna celebrate by seeing clients, paying rent, and still rocking the fly-aways since my hair is forever in a ponytail. 🥳💃

Kris did a great job cheering us on and grabbing pics of the Murph workout on Saturday at CrossFit Midlothian, but I want to use myself to point out things I look for with bodywork. 👀

In these pics, I can tell that my upper body is way too tight. My shoulders are riding high, there’s a lot of tension through my neck and scalenes, forward head posture, and tight mouth breathing.

I’ve been needing some work for a while and my symptoms leading up to this day were:

➡️ tight left bicep/shoulder, feeling like I need to constantly stretch my neck, feeling like my abdominals are super tight and shoved underneath my rib cage (red flag for not breathing with diaphragm, bracing well, etc.), and struggling to nasal breathe.

Pay attention to the changes you feel and see in your patterns. Many times our body will intuitively start trying to fix or help them, but make sure you get the soft tissue work done to encourage better mobility, work out tightness, and help with neuromuscular patterns. ✅

When I make my appointment I will request work along the blue areas in the pictures. These are two different fascial lines that affect movement. Notice how the abdominals feed up into the diaphragm and even the scalenes. 👏 It’s all connected!
They pull on one another. Don’t neglect the bodywork or the body will demand it later in the form of injury. ✅

I was needing to organize some business materials and realized the last couple of years have been busy! 👀🥰

I do it because I sincerely want to help others feel better, move better, and stay proactive in their healthcare.

Thank you to all of my faithful clients! 💚🌿

This year I plan to turn some attention to functional movement patterns, getting back to some foundational basics to help prevent injuries. This is partly due to health issues within my own family, but also something I’ve followed for a while.
I’ll keep you posted!

🥳 NASM PES certification finished! ✅

When I became a massage therapist, it only took about 9 months for me to realize that most people wanted bodywork due to pain.

I directed my continuing ed towards medical and therapeutic massage after that.

With my love for physical activity 🏋️‍♀️, I added on sports massage courses because I love getting to work with athletes. 🙌

I then got my CES (Corrective Exercise Specialist) certification through NASM so I could legally give corrective exercises to clients as needed. State laws are weird like that. Usually personal trainers get this cert but you can bypass it if you already work in a similar field.

I decided to get the PES next because it’s more sport specific. It helps me understand the nuances of different training programs based on the athlete and their sport and how their seasons flow. Knowing this, I can better address the issues that arise for each athlete. Pitchers need different focus than powerlifters, etc.

I’m excited to apply what I know and keep growing! May even dabble in some training at a later date, but time will tell. 😂
