🌟 OOTA Board Announcement! 🌟

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Kelle DeBoth Foust, PhD, OTR/L, (she/her/hers) as the new Education Special Interest Section Coordinator for the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association!

Dr. Foust brings a wealth of expertise to this role as an Associate Professor in the Cleveland State University Department of Occupational Therapy, Co-Director of the PhD in Transdisciplinary Health, Sciences & Technology, Managing Director of the CSU TECH Hub, and Co-Founder of PLAAY on the Move. Her leadership and passion for innovation in education make her an incredible addition to the Board.

“[I look forward to] getting to know and work closely with OTPs across the state, understanding more about the state’s role in advocacy, professional development, and OT education, and finding opportunities for innovation—including improving student involvement in the association.”

🎯 Dr. Foust aims to help launch the new micro-credentials, expand opportunities for student involvement (including collaborating on a new Student Hub for the OOTA website), increase conference attendance, and support the development of student professionalism courses and resources.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Foust on her new leadership role—exciting things are ahead for OT education in Ohio! 🙌💚

🎉 Celebrating Outstanding OTP Collaboration & Leadership 🎉

Please join us in recognizing two extraordinary OTPs from the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association—Natalie Chang Wright, MBA-HCM, COTA/L, ROH (she/her) and Shanese L. Higgins, DHSc, OTR/L, FAOTA, BCMH (she/her)—for receiving one of AOTA’s highest honors celebrating exceptional OTA/OT collaboration.

Natalie and Shanese were selected through the AOTA Volunteer application process to serve on the inaugural AOTA DEI Committee, where they were later elected Chair (Natalie) and Vice Chair (Shanese).

🏆 This award has only been given 15 times since its creation. Natalie and Shanese hope their recognition not only honors the work but also raises awareness. As Natalie shared, “We hope to inspire others to nominate themselves and/or their coworkers for one of the most valuable awards provided by AOTA.”

Shanese reflected on the deeper meaning behind the honor:
“This award represents the fruition of true collaboration—what the OTA/OT dynamic is meant to be. When practitioners work together, everyone benefits: clients, families, organizations, and the profession itself.”

Their recognition stands as a testament to the power of intraprofessional partnership and the impact that emerges when diverse voices are heard, elevated, and united toward meaningful progress.

✨ Congratulations, Natalie and Shanese! Your leadership, collaboration, and commitment to advancing DEI continue to inspire OTPs across Ohio and beyond.
