Vaccine Updates & Your Child: What Parents Need to Know
We know many families have questions after recent news about CDC vaccine recommendations. We want to share what this means for your child and reassure you of our continued commitment to safe, evidence-based care.
Vaccine FAQ
1. Is our vaccine schedule changing?
No. Our practice will continue to follow the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended immunization schedule, which is designed specifically to protect infants, children, and teens. These recommendations remain unchanged and are reviewed regularly by pediatric experts.
2. Are vaccines safe?
Yes. Vaccines are among the most carefully studied medical interventions we use. Like any medical treatment, they have risks and benefits—but decades of data show that the benefits of vaccination far outweigh the risks, especially when it comes to preventing serious and life-threatening illnesses.
3. Are the vaccines you recommend effective?
Yes. Vaccines work, and we continuously monitor high-quality research. If new, reliable evidence ever supports a change in best practice, pediatric organizations (including ours) will update guidance accordingly.
4. What were the recent CDC / ACIP changes about?
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) routinely reviews new data and updates guidance, but it is important to note that recent changes are not due to any new safety concerns or new research regarding currently available vaccinations.
5. What if I still have questions or concerns?
That’s okay—and expected. Vaccine questions don’t mean you’re doing something wrong and your provider will not be offended. Our role is to listen, provide clear and accurate information, and we are happy to partner with you to do what is best for your children.
