We need to break the stigma around hospice care.

Every American pays into the Medicare hospice benefit throughout their life, yet many families are never given the opportunity to use it when the time comes.

Hospice is often misunderstood as “giving up.”
In reality, it’s about giving patients the support they deserve.

As healthcare professionals, we have a responsibility to:
• Talk about end-of-life care earlier
• Educate families about their options
• Normalize hospice as supportive care
• Ensure patients receive the right care at the right time

We plan for births.
We plan for weddings.
We plan for retirement.

But death (something every person will experience) remains one of the hardest conversations to have.

It shouldn’t be.

Hospice care helps people live fully, with dignity and comfort, until the very end.

End-of-life care shouldn’t be a secret.

Last week we had the privilege of presenting Education on End-of-Life Documents at the Shawnee Senior Center for their “Snacks & Seniors” event.

We were so encouraged by the great turnout and thoughtful questions from attendees. Conversations like these matter. Planning ahead brings peace of mind not only for individuals, but for their families as well.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to educate, serve, and support our community in such meaningful ways. 💙

At Signature Hospice, our “why” is everything. Today, we’re honored to spotlight Leann Heath and the heart she brings to our team.

With 15 years in healthcare, Leann’s journey to hospice began in critical care nursing. After witnessing firsthand how aggressive measures were often taken for patients unable to speak for themselves and seeing outcomes that didn’t always bring peace she knew there had to be another way.

For Leann, hospice means focusing on comfort, dignity, and quality of life, whatever that looks like for each individual. It’s about honoring wishes, not giving up. It’s about caring not only for patients physically, but also emotionally and spiritually.

She shares: “It is my calling to provide a calming presence and let people know that the end of life holds as much beauty and love as the beginning.”

What fulfills her most? Meeting families in one of the most difficult seasons of their lives and offering comfort, reassurance, and guidance on what to expect. The moments that reaffirm her calling are when families thank our team for bringing peace, comfort, and love to their loved one.

Leann believes we are called to be a blessing to others and hospice is one of the most powerful ways to live out that mission.

We are so grateful for leaders like Leann who help create peaceful, dignified environments for the patients and families we serve. 💙

Serious bingo players in action 🎉💚

Our friends at Fountainbrook Assisted Living in Midwest City take their bingo very seriously, but the laughter, camaraderie, and smiles remind us it’s about so much more than the game. Moments like these bring joy, connection, and a little friendly competition that keeps spirits bright.

At Signature Hospice, we love getting to be part of these everyday memories. Whether it’s bingo, visits, or simply sharing time together, it’s an honor to support quality of life and meaningful moments for those we serve.

The Signature Hospice team recently spent time at Heritage Park connecting with residents and staff, having real conversations about what hospice care truly means: comfort, dignity, support, and compassionate guidance for families when they need it most.

We love opportunities like this to educate, listen, and build relationships in our community.

And yes… we may have also made a quick stop to support local and try the new Beach Bunnies coffee shop ☕🐰 because great care and great coffee both bring people together.
