And the Winner Is… Catrina Long, RN!

At Brookline Healthcare, we believe in celebrating the incredible people who make this place feel like home—and this fall, we did just that with a special giveaway to show our appreciation!

On Friday, October 24th, one lucky full-time employee was chosen to receive a BOUQUET OF GIFT CARDS — a festive mix of treats, eats, and surprises designed to brighten the season. And the winner is… Catrina Long, Registered Nurse!

Catrina, your dedication, compassion, and tireless care make a difference every single day. This small token of appreciation is just one way we can say what words often can’t thank you for all that you do.

So keep watching for the next drawing… and until then, thank you for being the heartbeat of Brookline Healthcare.

Sweet Surprises & Halloween Smiles at Brookline Healthcare!

On Sunday, October 26th, Brookline Healthcare was filled with joy, laughter, and the sweet scent of homemade cookies, thanks to a very special visit from Chloe Powell’s granddaughters. Their thoughtful gesture turned an ordinary afternoon into a heartwarming celebration that touched every resident’s heart.

Chloe’s granddaughters came bearing gifts—not just for their beloved grandmother, but for the entire Brookline family. With creativity and care, they crafted adorable Halloween pictures, each one bursting with spooky charm and festive cheer. These little works of art were lovingly handed out to all the residents, bringing smiles and sparking conversations about Halloweens past.

But the surprises didn’t stop there! The girls also brought handmade Halloween cookies, decorated with delightful ghosts, pumpkins, and bats. Each cookie was a masterpiece, and more importantly, a sweet reminder of the kindness that lives in small gestures.
Residents gathered to admire the artwork and savor the treats, and the atmosphere was filled with warmth and gratitude. It was a beautiful moment of connection—between generations, between neighbors, and between hearts.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Chloe Powell’s granddaughters for their generosity and thoughtfulness. Your visit brightened everyone’s day and reminded us all of the magic that happens when love is shared.

Happy Halloween from Brookline Healthcare!

A Cozy Finale: Brookline Healthcare’s Last Courtyard Concert of the Season

As the golden hues of autumn painted the skies on Friday, October 24th, Brookline Healthcare wrapped up its beloved Courtyard Concert Series with a heartwarming indoor celebration that brought music, laughter, and community together under one roof.
Though the afternoon air was cool and crisp, the warmth inside was undeniable. Residents, families, staff, and visitors gathered in indoors, eager to enjoy the final performance of the year. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement and anticipation as the talented musical duo “Take Two”, featuring Rick Smiley and Kathy Miller, took the stage.

With their signature charm and soulful harmonies, Rick and Kathy delivered a vibrant variety of songs that spanned genres and generations. From timeless classics to toe-tapping favorites, their performance struck a chord with everyone in the room. Smiles lit up faces, hands clapped in rhythm, and voices joined in chorus as the audience sang along, creating a beautiful symphony of joy and togetherness.

The music wasn’t the only thing warming hearts that day. Guests were treated to a delicious spread that added flavor to the festivities. Hot dogs fresh off the grill sizzled with perfection, paired with crispy potato chips, freshly baked cookies, and refreshing beverages. The aroma of grilled delights mingled with the melodies, making the experience a feast for all the senses.
This final concert was more than just an event—it was a celebration of community, connection, and the simple pleasures that bring people together. It was a reminder of the power of music to uplift spirits and create lasting memories.

As the last notes of the concert echoed through the halls, there was a shared sense of gratitude and joy. Brookline Healthcare’s Courtyard Concert Series has become a cherished tradition, and while this season has come to a close, the memories will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who attended.

Here’s to a season filled with harmony, happiness, and hope—and to many more musical moments in the future!

Nacho Average Day at Brookline Healthcare!

On October 21st, Brookline Healthcare turned up the flavor and the fun as our amazing staff celebrated National Nacho Day in the most delicious way possible — with loaded nachos for everyone!
Thanks to the thoughtful planning of our Retention Committee, the breakroom was transformed into a nacho lover’s paradise. From early morning to late night, staff from all shifts were treated to a spread of crispy tortilla chips piled high with melty cheese, seasoned beef, sour cream, salsa, and all the fixings you could dream of.

It wasn’t just about the food — it was about appreciation, connection, and a little midweek joy. Staff gathered around the nacho bar, shared laughs, swapped stories, and took a well-deserved moment to relax and recharge. The atmosphere was warm, festive, and full of gratitude for the incredible team that keeps Brookline Healthcare running strong every single day.
At Brookline, we know that small gestures can make a big impact. Celebrating our staff with something as simple (and tasty!) as nachos is just one way we say thank you for the heart, dedication, and care they bring to our residents and community.

To our Retention Committee — thank you for making this day extra special. And to our staff — you’re nacho ordinary team… you’re extraordinary!

Fun Nacho Trivia to Crunch On:
Nachos were invented by accident! In 1943, Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya created the dish for a group of hungry military wives in Mexico when the kitchen was out of food. He threw together what he had — tortillas, cheese, and jalapeños — and the rest is history!
The largest nacho platter ever made weighed over 5,000 pounds and was created in Kansas in 2012. That’s a whole lot of cheese!
