Thank you to everyone who paid for my brother Avery Murrah. I received this message from him and for those of you that are interested, here is his story:
To all those Prayer Warriors out there who prayed for “Avery Murrah’s recovery”,
Be encouraged to know that your prayers were answered Tuesday night
about Midnight! That is when a black cloaked image of a Messenger of
Death (long dark cloak, pointed hat on head and pointed nose, and
carrying a ledger) walked by my door, but didn’t come in! I had no
idea if he worked for Our Lord Jesus Christ or the Devil! I was
resolved that this was my time and fell asleep, expecting I would be
in Heaven when I awoke. Thanks to all your prayers for our Lord’s
saving grace, I am here today! Recovery stats for a case of sepsis in
both lungs combined with 105-degree fever for a little over 4 hours is
seldom successful in 7 days, never this quick, and seldom without some
permanent disabilities of some sort. I am feeling very well and have
only minor physical therapy issues to restore the volume in my lungs.
I will be back to 100% soon! Only by the Grace of God could that be
possible!
Go forth, as I will, and proclaim the role of Jesus Christ in your
life! We may not yet know the plan He has for us, but we should be
confident that He has one!
Thanking you in the name of Jesus Christ,
Avery Murrah
For Those Interested In My Journey, The Following Is My Testimony:
My journey in this medical issue came to a head Friday afternoon,
about 5:15 pm on 8/4/23. I had just returned from one of my primary
care provider’s office who advised that I had pneumonia, he gave me a
shot and two scrips and said to come back Monday if I was not better.
Less that 2 hours later I am passed out on the couch with EMT’s trying
to revive me. After a 25-minute gallant effort in my driveway, they
stabilized me and decided to go to Northeast Baptist rather than the
Baptist in the Med Center because they didn’t think I had the time for
the extended drive with a major heart attack. Once there, the team in
the Emergency Center took over and got me into intensive care for
sepsis in both lungs where I was kept in a medical induced coma until
Monday morning. They removed the ventilator and feeding tube and moved
me to a B-Pap type breathing machine. The machine and me were not able
to make friends at all. I got little to no sleep Monday night.
As I came up, I could recognize family around me and could hear them
trying to communicate with me, but I could not speak or write. This
continued thru Monday into Tuesday. By late Tuesday, I was able to
write notes (barely legible). Tuesday got better with speech and
writing but was encouraged not to talk so that throat could recover.
Tuesday night was bad due to the B-pap breathing machine, so sleep was
difficult. I managed only a twilight sleep up to Midnight. That is
when I noticed a black cloaked image of a Messenger of Death type
person (long dark cloak, pointed hat on head and pointed nose, and
carrying a ledger) walk by my door, but didn’t come in! I had no idea
if he worked for Our Lord Jesus Christ or the Devil! I was resolved
that this was my time and fell asleep, fully expecting I would be in
Heaven when I awoke. To my extreme pleasure, I am still here. I
expect to be released Saturday or Sunday, with no restrictions, other
than “House arrest” by my wife. The hands of Our Lord Jesus Christ
guided all those that cared for me, calmed my wife – Sheila, and has
re-fueled my belief in the power of prayer and a desire in me to be
more for Christ than I have been in the past.
Do you find it hard to believe in the power of prayer? If it doesn’t
happen to you, how can you trust the concept? If your belief system
is not strong, then it is easy to brush off the importance of being a
prayer warrior. I have prayed on and off for relief for my daughter
for nearly 30 years. Seeing little help for her on my schedule, I
lost faith in the power of prayer. Even though she crossed over at
one point and came back with a very vivid recall of what Heaven was
like, I failed to get the message! Since that time, she has grown in
her faith, perhaps even more than me. I was upset because He failed
to help on my schedule. It is important to remember that He answers
prayers on His schedule and not ours. We had another medical issue
with my son who got mono and developed a life-threatening mastoid
infection which is extremely dangerous, yet, after a major effort to
call on prayer warriors, his infections went away in a matter of 4
hours on a Sunday morning- much to the disbelief of his doctors who
kept him in the hospital an additional 10 days for “observation” –
which allowed him to play card games with all his friends from school.
100% recovery and no side effects, yet I still didn’t get it. Now,
after the third time, I need no other sign, no other reminder that the
Lord is in control of my life and that I need to do His will, not
mine. I reach out to each of you and ask, “Where are you in trusting
Christ with your walk of faith”? Get in a small group of believers
for support and encouragement, become a prayer warrior, and use our
stories to build your faith until you have a story of your own. In The
Name of Jesus Christ, Amen. Avery Murrah
