Tyler and Casey traded the sensory gym for the State House today 😅

They joined Maine Occupational Therapy Association to advocate for occupational therapy, met with their representative 🙌… and then got a full-on sensory challenge with a VERY loud bell ringing for what felt like an hour

Honestly felt like a group session:
“how are we regulating through unexpected auditory input today?” 🤣

No swings, no crashing, just sitting still, using professional words, and resisting the urge to cover their ears

But in all seriousness: such an important day advocating for our kids, families, and the future of OT 💙

Today, Casey Openshaw, OTR/L, owner of The Openshaw Spot, had the best time being part of the Early Childhood Conference on Outdoor Learning and Play in Blue Hill at The Bay View School 🌿

It was an awesome day connecting with so many incredible educators and sharing simple, meaningful ways to support regulation through outdoor play 💙

A big thank you to Healthy Peninsula and the Early Childhood Interest Group for including us, it was such a special experience!

We’ve recently heard some confusion in the community regarding services at our Machias clinic, and we want to take a moment to clarify:

The Openshaw Spot is NOT closing in Machias.
There will be no lapse in services, and we are continuing to support our families without interruption.

We’re also excited to share that a new Occupational Therapist will be joining our team April 20th!

🎉 BIG CONGRATS, LINCOLN! 🎉

This one is a little bittersweet for us…

Lincoln has officially learned how to tie his shoes 👟 AND graduated from OT!

We are SO incredibly proud of all the hard work he has put in over the years. Watching his growth, confidence, and independence build has been such an honor for our team 💙

While it’s always a little sad to say goodbye to kiddos we’ve known for so long… this is exactly why we do what we do 🥹

Go show the world what you can do, Lincoln. We will be cheering you on every step of the way! 👏✨
