Covid-19 Maternal Birth Services update:

I'm sorry for being absent lately, I've had alot going on. I am still accepting and attending births. I am limiting myself to one birth a month due to the spread of this virus. I recommend all of you that are due within the next 6 months to check with your hospital's new rules and regulations during this time. If you have a fever, cough, runny nose, any of these symptoms I will unfortunately not be able to attend your birth in person due to needing to protect family members. In that event I will virtually support you to the best of my abilities. Please make sure to take extra precautions and be safe during the outbreak of this virus.

This is my husband and, I two years ago today while I was in labor with our third child. The contractions were coming fast and lasting a little over a minute, I was already in the middle of transition. The reason he is laughing is because, my water had just broken and I jumped out of the bed. As I was standing there it was going all over the floor and I kept apologizing to the nurse for the mess I was unintentionally making as we all laughed about it in between contractions. Today our beautiful daughter turns two♥️

Have you heard of the 4th trimester? Most of us know there to be only 3 trimesters. The 4th trimester is the first 12 weeks of life after you've had your baby. The 4th trimester consists of a lot of trial and error, physical and emotional changes as your baby adjusts to life outside the womb and, you adjust to your new life. The 4th trimester is very real, its beautiful and exhausting. It's important to plan how you want your 4th trimester, also know as postpartum to look. I will help you with that in the second prenatal visit I have with you!

My services include two prenatal visits, each lasting 1 to 2 hours.

What are prenatal visits?

The first prenatal visit will consist of getting to know each other, your partner and I'd even like to get to know your older children if this is not your first. We will write up a birth plan, I like to call it birth preferences.
Birth plan/preferences?
•Who you want in your birthing space
•Wait until a certain point for pain intervention
•Medicated
•Unmedicated
•Interventions (vacuum, forceps)
•Kangaroo care immediately (skin to skin)
•Breastfeeding or formula
•Will you allow students in your space
Sometimes your preferences don't always go as planned. In the end our goal is for a happy and healthy momma and baby.

Second prenatal visit will be all about postpartum and what you want your postpartum period to look like.
•Do you wish to have constant visitors
•Can you give people specific jobs when they come to visit (hold the baby so you can shower, nap, help fold laundry, vacuum, anything that may help you)
•Can we set up a meal train to help make meal time easier (I will help make)
•What kind of help and support will you have when you go home.

Pregnancy and birth are personal and intimate. I will never rush you through our prenatal visits and I will answer any questions you may have.

Breastfeeding doesnt always come as natural as we think it does sometimes, and it can be hard in the beginning for numerous reasons. I'll be trained to support you in the beginning of your journey if thats how you choose to feed your baby.

My Story

Hi I’m Erica! I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have always loved children for as long as I can remember, but my passion for birth started to grow nine years ago with the experience of the first birth I attended. Since then, I’ve had four beautiful children of my own and have attended several other births. My passion has continued to grow, along with learning the benefits of having a doula by your side through pregnancy, and birth.
