after yesterday’s storm?

Here are some ideas for what you can do with sticks to improve fine motor skills while playing pick up sticks, visual motor skills by making letters of your name, copying shapes and playing tic tac toe, and gross motor skills after making a hop scotch or making a target.

Such a beautiful fall weekend! I hope you enjoyed it and your kids will continue to have fun in the next few weeks with the things Mother Nature gives us. Welcome to Building Skills for Life!

Building Skills for Life is a new company that can assist families, children or young adults with providing Occupational Therapy (OT) services to develop and improve skills that are foundational, meaningful and impact their daily lives.

Occupational therapists use a variety of techniques and therapies to help children with physical, sensory, social/emotional and cognitive challenges, and to improve fine-motor skills, visual perception, cognitive skills, sensory processing and self-care skills. This can include helping a child learn how to hold a pencil, hit a baseball, dress, play with a peer, organize homework, and improve attention.

Building Skills for Life believes children thrive most in their natural environment which is why we provide Occupational Therapy at home, in school or in the community to build the skills necessary to allow your child to reach their fullest potential. We provide meaningful activities based on your child's unique skills, interests and strengths to engage the child/young adult in activities they enjoy, maximizing the potential for success.

Building Skills for Life offers evaluations, treatment and consultations. We provide in person therapy sessions, online Telehealth therapy, as well as Zoom or in person consultation sessions. We focus on seeing the possibilities and finding the path to individualized growth.
