If I have helped somebody as I passed along,

If I have cheered somebody with a word or song,

If I have shown somebody they were trav'ling wrong,

Then my living was not in vain.

If I have done my duty as a Christian ought,

If I have brought back beauty to a world up wrought,

If I have spread love's message that our Master taught,

Then my living was not in vain.
