Maxwell: Back in the USA and Friends

Maxwell: Back in the USA and Friends Both have been adopted and truly HOME! Max will now host the page! Hi, we're Maxwell and Tigger! We once lived happily in Stratford, CT with our dad, Brad.

Maxwell and Tigger, originally from Stratford, CT, are back home in Connecticut from Kenya, Africa where they were left stranded after their owner died unexpectedly in the summer of 2023. He found love and moved, with us soon following, to Kenya, Africa in 2021. Our dad came back to the States in 2023 for surgery, and unexpectedly passed away in a motorcycle crash leaving us stranded in Africa. We were originally adopted from two different groups: Zen Dog CT and In the Nic of Time, which is no longer in operation. Zen Dog CT was Tigger's rescue and took responsibility to get us both back home to Connecticut. We stayed with the wonderful people at the Kenya SPCA in Mombasa for a few months while SO many people back in the US helped to fundraise and share our story so that we could come home. It took a village, and the village came through! We thank each and every one of you who donated, shared and followed our story--each one of you helped us get home! In early March of 2024, we were finally cleared to fly home. The Small Five Animal Clinic picked us up from the KSPCA and drove us to the airport in Nairobi for our 15 hour plane ride on Kenyan Airways into JFK in New York. Soon after arrival, we moved into our foster home in Milford, CT. We've been decompressing and getting used to our daily routine. It's much cooler here than Africa, and we like that! Foster mom takes us for daily walks and we have our very own special bedroom with a surplus of sleeping areas to choose from; after all, we're seniors and we like to rest! We've also got a fenced yard and patio with kuranda beds to lounge on--what could be better?! What COULD be better is a forever home! We can be adopted together or separately as we are not bonded. Although we've been through so much together, we are not the very best of friends--we're two older gentleman who tolerate one another. Please message the page if you'd like more info on our perfect retirement home! In the meantime, we'll be posting pictures and videos of our day-to-day and hope you'll follow along!

🙏WE NEED YOUR HELP AGAIN FACEBOOK FRIENDS 🙏

Back in June of 2025, we assisted with a hoarding case . There were 2 dozen dogs stuck in a small house and were not being cared for properly . They were actually being bred and sold ( in**ed as well) but obviously with the economy the way it is , animals aren’t “selling as quickly”. Backyard breeding is a huge issue in our state as it is but that’s a conversation for a different day .

This little guy was one of the hoarding dogs . We named him Freddy . Freddys brothers were adopted but he’s been stuck in a kennel for over 6 months . Freddy along with his siblings have quirks ( you can imagine you might too if you were raised in filth and not cared for properly) . At the shelter , Freddy enjoys other dogs , he loves meeting new people , loves going on hikes , car rides , getting puppy cups - all the normal stuff !

But in a home setting , Freddy becomes protective over his people after a week or two of living with them …. So if somebody new comes inside the house - he isn’t sure what their intentions are . But the great thing is - Freddy can just be put in a kennel while visitors are there and this is also something Freddy has been working on with a trainer and once Freddy is adopted the trainer will continue to work with him at home .

Again at the shelter , Freddy displays none of this ! He sits up front with all of us and has met over a hundred people visiting or volunteering and he’s enjoyed them all ! This behavior is likely going to be an in the home behavior that will need to be worked on .

Freddy’s best home would be with a couple ( even an older couple ) that do not have loads of visitors but like to walk . Freddy likes being around dogs but due to his at home behavior should likely be an only pet . Freddy is a hound beagle mix and is 5-7 years old . He’s about 50 pounds and is neutered , up to date , microchipped and heartworm negative .

If you are interested in adopting him please fill out an application at www.branfordanimalshelter.org

Sometimes Mom takes our toys away after awhile & swaps them with another, then re-presents them a couple of months later. This was my favorite Halloween toy and now it’s back! It may be old, but it’s new to me! Asher is in the other room chewing on Frankenstein! 😂🎃🐾~Max

Please consider a charitable donation to YOUR favorite rescue. They can’t continue on without donations! If you’re not in a position to donate, please share their posts as exposure is just as important. We can alllll do something to help!💗🐾~Mom

A major grant is giving a no-kill animal shelter in Hamden the opportunity to continue its mission with an anticipated expansion.
