🦷 Tip Tuesday 🦷

🚫 FOXTAIL🚫

It’s very important to inspect your hay to make sure it doesn’t contain foxtail. This is what foxtail can do to your horse’s mouth. It can be very painful, causing your horse to not want to eat, which can be very dangerous at this time of year. Foxtail causes inflammation, ulceration, and pain. PLEASE CHECK YOUR HAY!!

If you do find this in your hay, don’t worry! Send me a message to schedule an exam so we can clean it out.

This guys entire jaw was completely out of balance due to his TEETH!

It's the perfect time of the year to make sure your horses are able to grind and digest their food properly!

🦷 Tip Tuesday 🦷

📈 Horses teeth erupt about 2-3 mm per year. They can wear down unevenly if they chew hay, grain, or pasture differently --> which is why even horses with good diets still develop hooks over time.

🐴This guy just got to his new home, healthy, fat and happy. He has no exterior signs of dental problems..... but look at those points!!! 👀

❗️Just because your horse isn't having problems chewing doesn't mean they don't need a dental exam ❗️
