Don’t forget to check in on your friends. Social media is cool, and I think we can almost all agree that in person beats online relationships. I mean can you truly enjoy a cup of coffee over text? Going on a walk while on the phone is cool, but trust me when. I say that people don’t live to just listen to you describe the weird stuff you see, the mushrooms or flowers or white squirrels. They would probably much rather be there with you.
So in a time of constant connectivity, what if we left our phone in our bags and spent time with one person for an hour a week? What does that look like? A massage? A cup of coffee? Just showing up unannounced to someone who would appreciate that?
There are big things coming this year in my life that I believe I will need a strong community in order to see them through. This ain’t a call to “find your tribe”. It is simply a call to interact with humans so that in the days ahead, we can remember peoples humanity, even when it is inconvenient and doesn’t support our agenda.

I hope this year brings beauty into your lives. Be generous. Romanticize your life. Find a friend.

Officially certified in DeepFeet Silks!

What does this mean for you? Well, have you ever had a deep tissue but not loved the bony parts of the therapists arm and fingers? Have you wanted a deep tissue without the pain? Well that’s where this form of Ashiatsu comes in! Using the full pad of my feet and a a scale of 1-10, we try to stay in the therapeutic pressure range of 6-8 range. Slow gliding movements, and holds right in those tight spots to melt away tension.

After your session you can relax in our tea room to reintegrate your the world. Clients so far are saying how deeply grounding the work is and that it’s all they ever want from now on! Come see what all the fuss is about!

I have openings this week!

“just because they are able to carry so much doesn’t mean each step isn’t a struggle.”-The forager’s Daughter Tarot

For my 33rd birthday I pulled some tarot, and the last card I pulled was the 10 of wands. This particular set shows an ant with 10 wands and a rock with a fossilized plant on top.
My life has been full of holding other people’s truths, shame, hurt, pain, fears. But on the other side, I’ve also been able to hold joys, celebrations, love, and more. These days I find myself drawing in more and asking “Is this even mine to hold?” The answer more often than not is, NO! Not a small no, but a big NO! That’s not to say that I can’t or won’t hold space for people, but the interaction has to be different. I can listen, hold, and let go. To have peace. There is so much going on that some of us can feel so overburdened, but there’s so much good as well. What is something YOU can let go? What is something maybe we could leave on the table after a massage or energy session, that doesn’t have to be picked up again?
How are YOU changing your story?

Hey. It’s been a while. A lot has happened since I posted on here.
So let’s start with some honesty.
The last 5 years have been more challenging than I can even put words to. But it’s also opened so many door for growth. This first picture is what my breakfast table looked like almost everyday day last spring. Beautiful but chaotic. I could barely get out of bed most days, the house we lived in was honestly a nightmare and got worse everyday. We were constantly in the car, falling out with family members, rescued a dog, only to have her be extremely aggressive to our sweet Roo. I could go on and on. But I don’t want to focus on the negative, and I don’t want to ignore it either. There is no appreciation for light without shadow.

Hey all! It's been a while so let's catch up!

Living in Western North Carolina is full of uncertainty and more stress on hearts than previously. My focus has been on making sure that myself and my family are taken care of emotionally as well as physically. (Where we are located we did not actually occur storm damage, and are fine.) We have been teaming up with a neighbor to crowd source needs as they come up and to just be a safe space for people to escape to if needed.

In all of this, I have decided to step back from my practice under Lighten Up. I love all of those humans dearly, but with all the roads closures it was almost two hours one way, plus with all the unannounced road fixings, I would drive there only to have a client unable to leave their house. I have learned much, and miss those humans immensely.

On top of this, I have started a 7-year program to continue the work on myself in order to create an even more unique experience for each client. As well as continuing my sound healing courses. (Don't worry guys, I talked myself out of acupuncture school, lol.)

Foster pups, our own pup, crowd sourcing, communicating into the night about new needs, cold weather, rain, and life. I just needed to step back and do less. So with that catch me at Elements wellness spa in Brevard for bodywork, or at home for sound healing work.

I hope you all are finding space for the greatness of you this season!

Hello friends! Just popping in to update you on my hours!
For the foreseeable future, my Lake Lure office hours will be sparse and ONLY Wednesday.
For the next 4 weeks my Brevard hours are also changing, with very limited availability Fridays and Saturdays, as in only two late afternoon appointments.

Thank you all for your understanding and support!
Come get some unwind time in Lake Lure at Lighten Up or in Brevard at Elements Wellness Spa.

Another year older. As I said goodby to 31, Zach, Roo and I decided to hike to a ghost town with little research, baked goods, cheese, and some water. We picked the most appropriate way in to say goodbye to the past year and hello to spring. We walked a total of 19 miles, most of which was straight up or straight down 3,000 feet. We were almost there when the Homer in front of us turned around because he thought we were only halfway there, that was at mile 9 1/2. Mile 9 3/4 we found the ghost town.
The hike was hard. The hike was beautiful. And we couldn't have had better weather. But the amount of effort this hike took seemed like a good summary of the year we were leaving behind. Uncomfortable, hard, and beautiful.

Here's to 32. Hopefully it continues on with grace and beauty.

Why does your therapist recommend multiple sessions?

Consistency isn't just a cool word, it's the secret to supercharged massages!  Here's the scoop: the more consistent you are with your sessions, the more your body tunes into the relaxation groove.

It's like training for a big event but way more relaxing!  With each session, your muscles get into the rhythm, making it easier to unwind those stuck places, destress and clear your mind.

So, let's keep those massage dates regular! Your body will be shouting "Thank you!" with every knead and stroke.

When I first started massage, I actually hated receiving massage, and even being touched. But that's a different story. Now if I go two weeks without a session, my body and mind let me know. It may seem like a lot to get 12 or more massages a year, but I have noticed I don't have the aches and pains my friends that don't receive regular sessions have. I find massage to be preventative work as well as treating acute and chronic life aches.

"How can I better support myself throughout this coming year?" - My planner asked this question with the full moon of the weekend, and it got me thinking, how am I going to do this? Here's what I came up with.

-Drink water that hydrates
-Daily movement and sunshine
-Regular bodywork such as massage and acupuncture
-Community

These are things I'm bringing with me from 2023. I'm sure I'll add more things and I'm excited to see what this year has to bring.

What are you doing to support yourself this year? Answer in the comments
