Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, is actually somewhat common — it’s estimated that one in six people have IBS, and women are twice more likely to develop it than men. So it's no surprise that IBS is the top gastrointestinal condition diagnosed by doctors, and even accounts for 30% of all referrals to gastroenterologists. IBS symptoms can vary widely from person to person; some people are highly symptomatic, while others have few symptoms at all. But generally, symptoms include: vague chronic abdominal pain, irregular bowel habits (constipation/diarrhea), heartburn, nausea and bloating.

It's hard to choose just one of the incredible healing devices that we have at Jyzen, however, the NovoTHOR; which is a red and near-infrared light therapy bed; is one of my favorite bio-optimization technologies.

Red light therapy and near-infrared light therapy is the bio-optimization technology that I use the most.

Not all devices are created equally. I did a lot of research before choosing the NovoTHOR for my clinic. This is a top of the line product that has offered very positive results for myself and my patients.

You probably know a little bit about type 2 diabetes. You know it’s marked by high blood sugar and insulin resistance, and you know that obesity and belly fat, a poor diet and inactivity are primary risk factors. But what most people don’t know is that the gut microbiome — the collection of bacteria and other microbes in the intestinal tract — also has an effect on blood sugar metabolism, insulin sensitivity, weight and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

It's pretty obvious that the foods you eat can have a direct impact on your blood sugar; fast-burning carbohydrates, which are quickly broken down, not only spike your blood sugar but also cause you to reach for more sugar and carbs later in the day. What may not be so obvious is that the health of your gut microbiome can affect your metabolism and influence your blood sugar — just like food does.

Check out my article with simple food-related tips that you can experiment with; hopefully they can help improve your metabolism and blood sugar regulation by supporting the health and diversity of your gut microbiome: https://bit.ly/3OSs9JB

What is autophagy? Well, if you’ve ever owned a car, you know how important a regular tune-up is — our body's cells perform regular maintenance, too. This process of degrading and recycling cellular material is called autophagy, and it's essential for cell survival and optimal function. In fact, impairments in autophagy have been linked with a wide range of health issues. Read this article to find out more about the health benefits of autophagy and how to "activate" it in your body: https://bit.ly/3ojjCV4

The primary thing that can be done to dampen inflammation in your body and make your body less pro-inflammatory is work on your diet, however there are a few other things you can also work on.

1️⃣ Anti-inflammatory diet: If you're dealing with inflammation or almost any illness, adopting a diet consisting primarily of protein, vegetables and healthy fats, and eliminating sugar, dairy, alcohol and gluten, can have very positive results.

2️⃣Allergies: Eliminating foods that you are allergic to is also very important, as they can provoke an immune reaction, and the immune reaction creates inflammatory markers and inflammatory intermediates.

3️⃣ Sleep: The other thing that you can do to reduce inflammation in the body is get enough sleep. Whatever it takes to set yourself up for a good night's sleep, will pay off in diminished inflammation.

4️⃣Bio-hacking: Contrast therapy, Red-light and near infrared light therapy.

5️⃣ Meditation & Exercise: Meditation as well as exercise can help with stress management. Stress is a big cause of inflammation, so clearing the stress of your day is very important to reduce inflammation.

6️⃣ Supplements: Adrenal glandulars, turmeric, essential fatty acids such fish and evening primrose oil.

The power is in your hands to reduce inflammation, reverse disease and live your most vital life.

If you could live to 100 or older, would you? In a recent survey, nearly 70% of respondents said they would. But I think it's safe to say no one wants to live this long and be sick and immobile. If you want to join the ranks of centenarians—people who are age 100 and older—you need to develop healthy habits for a long life, which I discuss here: bit.ly/3Izdn7c
