Let’s talk about the Shen…

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shen lives in the Heart ,the emperor of organs, and governs your mind, emotions, awareness, and that spark behind your eyes.

When Shen is strong and settled, you feel clear-headed, emotionally steady, and connected. On the other hand, when disturbed? Think insomnia, anxiety, palpitations, brain fog, or emotional overwhelm.

Here’s the key: Shen needs strong Blood and Qi to stay anchored.
- Deficient Blood → Shen feels ungrounded
- Excess Heat or stress → Shen gets agitated

Balance is everything.

Some ways you can support your Shen at home are…
- 10–15 minutes of quiet meditation
- Gentle Qi Gong or breath work
- Blood-nourishing foods (oats, leafy greens, eggs)
- Limit caffeine & spicy foods

Once you care for your Shen your whole system softens into harmony.

As we come to the end of the yin wood snake year we can reflect on the year that has passed and prepare to move into the yang fire horse year.

This was a year to adapt internally to the external world around us. It was about considering what we believe, our habits, and our attitudes and clarifying those beliefs habits and attitudes to help us respond to the world around us.

At the end of this year it is now time to shed the snake’s skin and leave behind those beliefs, habits, and attitudes that don’t serve us in our purpose.

My wish for all of us is that we shed the beliefs that we may hold that allow us to think we don’t have the power to determine how things go around here. I hope we all shed any inkling of a believe that any human is more deserving of safety, dignity, or health than other humans, based on where they were born. May we shed the habits that allow billionaires to keep billionairing and shed the beliefs that result in billionaire worship. May we all shed the attitude that we are powerless to stop fascism.

May the clarity and the growth from the yin wood snake year carry us into this yang fire horse year. It’s going to require grounding because there is a lot of moving energy ahead.

Your symptoms aren’t the problem, they’re a message.

Pain, fatigue and stress are signs that your body is asking for deeper support. When we fix symptoms, healing stays at the surface-level. When we treat the root cause, the body can then truly restore balance.

We focus on whole-body healing through acupuncture, traditional Chinese herbal medicine, massage and more. Together, these support the nervous system, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and nourish the body from within, creating real, lasting change instead of just temporary relief.

Healing starts at the root.

Schedule an appointment today and begin your journey toward long-term wellness.

Swipe to rethink how you set goals this year…

Resolutions ask for “all or nothing,” while intentions ask for patience and presence.

One isn’t better than the other, they’re just different paths to growth. Some days you show up perfectly, some days you simply show up and that’s enough.

At Soul Sprout, we applaud the small steps, the gentle shifts, and the healing that happens when we choose compassion over pressure.

Healing happens in layers…

Acupuncture works best when it’s consistent and cumulative. That’s why we often begin with weekly (or twice-weekly) sessions, then gently space things out as your body responds.

Our goal? To help your system find balance so you’re only coming in every 3–6 months for a tune-up.

Most treatment plans are around 10–12 sessions, with longer support for chronic patterns.

Is your digestive system suffering from a holiday hangover from an abundance of treats over the past few months?

Did you know acupuncture can help give you the reset you need to feel like your healthy balance self again?

Acupuncture regulates your nervous system, stimulating the rest and digest functions of the parasympathetic nervous system. It also stimulates circulation, improving blood flow to the digestive organs and regulates the activity of digestive hormones.

Acupuncture can also help to regulate intestinal motility, balancing out your bowels so you’re not going to often or too infrequently.

Visit our schedule at soulsproutacu.janeapp.com or call us at 201-563-0659 for help getting your digestion back on track.

01/02/2026

While a new calendar year has begun, we are still in the most yin (quiet, restful) days of winter before the lunar new year and in February which signals the beginning of spring.

Here are 3 ways to prepare your body for the year ahead while honoring the dark, quiet, restful calm before spring springs…
- Rest! Sleep! Reflect! Use this time to build your energy stores as you prepare for the active months of growth and renewal ahead.
- Nourish! Eat soups, root vegetables, herbal teas, and warming spices to support your digestion and help build your energy reserves.
- Gentle movement! Tai chi, restorative yoga, and long walks are you friends! They move the qi without depleting you.

We encourage you to avoid the pull to jump into new practices that deplete your energy right now. The time to get more active is quickly approaching.
