Happy Voting Day! As you make your vote for the person(s) you think are best for the job, please be mindful of the person you want to be. Who you are and how you treat those around you has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with who you are. Your values might include kindness, empathy, health, or any number of things you decide are vitally important to you. As often as you can, mindfully choose to let those values guide your choices this election season and every day thereafter.

Be well.

Exploring Your Future: Tips for College Touring

Hey there, future college students!

As summer rolls around, many of you are probably gearing up for college tours. It's an exciting time, but it can also feel a bit overwhelming. Don't worry—we've got some tips to help you make the most of your college visits!

1. Plan Ahead
Research the colleges you're interested in and schedule your tours in advance. Check out their websites for tour dates and open house events. Make a list of what you want to see and do on each campus.

2. Prepare Questions
Think about what’s important to you in a college. Is it the size of the campus, the availability of certain programs, or the vibe of the student community? Write down your questions so you can get the info you need during your tour.

3. Explore Beyond the Tour
While guided tours are great for getting an overview, don't be afraid to explore on your own. Wander around the campus, visit the library, check out the dining halls, and maybe even sit in on a class if you can. This will give you a better feel for daily life at the school.

4. Talk to Students
Who better to give you the inside scoop than current students? Ask them about their experiences, what they like and don't like about the school, and any advice they might have. Their perspectives can be invaluable.

5. Take Notes
With so many colleges to see, it’s easy to mix them up. Jot down your impressions, pros and cons, and any standout features of each school right after your visit. This will help you remember what you liked and didn’t like later on.

6. Consider the Surrounding Area
Remember, you’ll be living there for the next few years. Take some time to explore the surrounding town or city. Look for things like shops, restaurants, and entertainment options that might be important to you.

7. Have Fun!
Last but not least, enjoy the process! College touring is a chance to envision your future and find the place that feels right for you. Keep an open mind and soak up the experience.

Good luck with your college tours, and remember, choosing a college is about finding the right fit for you. Trust your instincts and make the most of this exciting journey!

Hi! I’m Dr. Kristin McGue and I founded LiveWell Behavioral Health Center (BHC) out of a commitment to serving the mental wellness needs of adolescents and young adults. Both in my experience and work, I see how often adolescents and young adults often find themselves at a crossroads of natural life transition and self-exploration while also at times lacking the tools to navigate it all alone. Whether you are that person or you support someone in this position, I’m so glad you’re here. Click the link in our bio to learn more about me, the team, and the practice.
