The list of things I want, has grown smaller with every passing year.
These days, I can pretty much narrow it down to,
good health for us all,
enough money,
enough time,
enough fun,
enough adventure,
enough work,
really, just enough.
Enough.
That’s really all that I want.
The list of things I don’t want, however, has grown bigger, a whole lot bigger.
At the top of that list comes unnecessary drama.
As I get older, I realise that I can handle pretty much any negativity or adversity life may throw my way.
But I don’t have to.
I don’t have to sign up for it all.
It’s pretty freeing.
In fact, I can cancel my subscription to anyone’s drama, anytime I please.
And I have.
If it costs you your peace, it’s too expensive right?

Commuting was okay. Until it wasn’t. I had been struggling with all of life’s ups and downs. A new marriage brought the new role of step-mom, and an hour long work commute to Boston to keep my teaching position. The addition of caring for my dad post-stroke was the breaking point. I quit my beloved middle school teaching job and got another closer to home. The new school came with a sizable cut in pay from what I had been earning. I had to make cut backs and tighten the proverbial belt to make it happen.
And then I found Pure Haven. I had always dreamed of having my own business, but could not see a way to make this a reality. I had no money for start-up costs. I had no time to research about business trends or websites. I had attended college for education and put myself through graduate school. I needed to stick with what I knew would bring in a regularly paced income. And then I found Pure Haven.
A hippie from way-back-when, I was always trying to find a healthy and environmentally safer alternative to the mass of products available for home and self care. I attended a wellness conference the same weekend that I was to start my new job with the sizable pay cut. When I gravitated to a display highlighting many of the hippie brands that I used I was shocked to see that they were gathered together to highlight toxic ingredients!
It was then that I learned about greenwashing.
And the rest, as they say, is history. I spoke with the person behind the display, got more information and went home to research and confirm what I’d learned. MIND BLOWN. I researched more and more (I am a science teacher, remember?!) and just knew, that if I, a certified Granola Girl, did not know about the issue of ingredients then my friends and family did not know either!
I signed up to have my own business! Website - check! Back office organizing customers and their orders? - Check! A support staff when I had questions? -check! Multiple forms of training and education to support my business?- check! A USDA organic certified factory? - check! NOT having to keep stock in my home was important to me. Having a consumable product was important to me. Check! and Check!
When Easter rolled around and life had been insanely busy, I simply called a landscaper and had them come over and tidy up the yard. I had the money. It did not come out of our family budget. When my husband had a big birthday, I surprised him with a trip to a Caribbean Island. All paid for with my Pure Haven business.
