“This is a very special picture for me for several reasons.
The doctor to my left is Dr. Payam Tristani, an excellent Mohs dermatologist. Dr. Tristani and I met on my very first day of work in 2002—we were actually in the same employee orientation class. We’ve been friends and colleagues ever since.
Behind us is the white coat of a local legend, Dr. Glenn Bowen. Dr. Bowen was my personal dermatologist for many years and always provided me with excellent skin care, especially after I got far too much sun when I was younger. Sadly, Dr. Bowen passed away in 2020, but the University of Utah’s Department of Dermatology honors his memory with this touching hallway tribute.
Much of our professional life is spent beautifying faces with injectables, lasers, and more—but never forget the basics. Always wear a high-quality sunscreen, especially in Utah’s beautiful but intense outdoor climate. And if you’re prone to sensitive skin, make sure to schedule routine annual skin checks with a board-certified dermatologist.”

I can say as a surgeon for 20+ years that "pre-authorizations" are awful. I can not tell you how many times I had to almost (professionally speaking) beg to get someone's necessary surgery approved. And...here is the absolute worst part..most often you are talking to a pediatrician, internal medicine doctor or some other MD that has essentially NO knowledge of the patient's surgical problem nor their surgical solution.
This process eats up hours of expensive and valuable HR time. I wonder if any "power" in DC is great enough to end this terrible process?
