What a Great Way to Beat the Heat — A Watermelon Bust!

The residents of Highland Cove had a great time cooling off with our refreshing Watermelon Bust! There's nothing quite like ice-cold watermelon on a hot summer day — and according to our crowd, there's no such thing as too much watermelon!

Our amazing Lifestyles team kept the juicy slices coming as everyone gathered in the shade, shared laughs, and soaked up the sweet moments (and the juice!). Summer fun, sunshine, and smiles — that's how we do it here at Highland Cove!

Highland Cove is proud to celebrate a very special piece of our community's history-the anniversary of the original Hyland Drive-In, July 21st, 1948. Following a stunning remodel in 1961, the name was changed to Highland Drive-In. Though it closed its doors in 1982, the memories have never faded. To honor this legacy, we brought back a nostalgic night under the stars with our very own Highland Drive In & Body Park. We screened one of the first films ever shown at the original drive-in: "Annie Get Your Gun! The best memory of going to the drive-in is going to the concession stand to get a bag of freshly popped popcorn, the sugary smell of waiting for your on-the-spot cotton candy, and the most favorite, snow cones, with a choice of lots of rainbow flavors! So many smiles, laughs, and shared memories filled the air as residents reminisced about the good ole days. What a beautiful way to celebrate Highland Cove's rich history-with community fun and the joy of remembering together.

The residents of Highland Cove have some adorable new neighbors—baby quail!

Ember, our wonderful Lifestyles Coordinator, knows just how much our Assisted Living residents enjoy birdwatching. So, she had a delightful idea: why not raise baby quail right here on our beautiful grounds?

These tiny fluffballs started out no bigger than a chicken nugget and are growing fast! In the meantime, our dedicated Maintenance Director, Kevin, has been hard at work building a safe and cozy enclosure to keep them protected as they grow.

Our residents were thrilled to come outside and watch Kevin begin construction for our fluffy new friends—their excitement is contagious!

Beating The Heat, Highland Cove Style!

When the summer sun cranked up the heat, we cranked up the fun! Our Highland Cove Assisted Living residents took a delightful trip to Fashion Place Mall-the perfect cool spot for a leisurely stroll, some window shopping and lots of laughs along the way. After stretching our legs, and enjoying the air-conditioned comfort, we wrapped up the outing the sweetest way possible-with stopping at Dairy Queen for a scoop of ice cream! A great memorable adventure with our Highland Cove family!

This place was OUT-OF-SIGHT! We took it way back to 1969 for our very own "CoveStock Party, "a groovy celebration inspired by the original Woodstock! Residents showed off their far-out fashions by rockin their cool threads of tie-dye shirts that they made themselves for our event. The whole room was bursting with color, creativity & fun! And the music? The Pop Orchestra brought down the house with iconic hits from the 1960s!-and yes, the crowd was moving and groovin' with their arms up in the air, singing and swaying away to those old favorites we love! Here's to peace, love, & tie-dye forever!

Over the course of two fun-filled days this month, 88 of our residents came out to the gazebo area to design and make their very own tie-dye t-shirts! The resident's talked and laughed as they shared what colors they were going go make their out-of -sight creations. These one-of-a-kind shirts will be worn proudly at our upcoming CoveStock celebration-Highland Cove's very own throwback to the 1960's Woodstock! We are bringing peace, love, and happiness as our seniors, dressed in their groovy shirts, will dance the evening away to the cool tunes from the Pop Orchestra.

World War II Veteran & Longtime Highland Cove Resident Turns 103!

We had the absolute joy of celebrating an extraordinary milestone for one of our most cherished residents. Eleanor, a World War II veteran nurse and a beloved member of the Highland Cove family for the past 26 years, turned 103 years young!

Surrounded by her loving family and many dear friends from our community, Eleanor’s birthday celebration was filled with laughter, love, and admiration. Her radiant smile, quick wit, and boundless energy continue to inspire us every day. From her compassionate service during the war to the joy she brings to Highland Cove, Eleanor’s journey is nothing short of remarkable. She still enjoys her daily walks, soaking up the sunshine, and spreading happiness wherever she goes.

On behalf of all of us at Highland Cove—Happy Birthday, Eleanor! We love you dearly and are so grateful for the light you bring into our lives.

We celebrated the amazing fathers here at Highland Cove! We fired up the grill and had a delicious BBQ shindig featuring mouthwatering beef and chicken kabobs fresh off the grill, along with lots of other fixings to go with it, that was fit for a king! The savory smell drifted through the air as residents enjoyed a beautiful afternoon outdoors- great food, great company, and lots of smiles all around! A huge high five to Julia and her staff for their hard work in making our Father's Day BBQ sensational! Cheers to all the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who fill our lives with love, strength, and happiness. Happy Father's Day from your Highland Cove Family!
