Private Surgical Tech Position
The Facial Plastic Surgery practice of Mobley MD/Millcreek Surgical Suite is looking for a private scrub/ surgical technologist to assist well-know Utah Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Steven Mobley. The surgical tech gets to work closely with Dr. Mobley as he helps patients fulfill their dream through the artistry of facial plastic surgery. Dr. Mobley has over 20 years of surgical experience and has helped thousands of people through surgery. Our work culture is also very much a tight-knit family and Dr. Mobley has a long history of philanthropy through donations as well as offering pro-bono surgery for those in need of his skills. You can be part of helping people through the art and giving of facial plastic surgery.
The surgical tech handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Also, perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of the physician and team running smoothly.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a surgical environment that has a lower number of cases per day, thus potentially reducing exposure to infection risks. This is also an excellent opportunity to get out of the hospital, away from call, trauma, and potentially dangerous work-place exposure.
This is a full to part-time position. Dr. Mobley operates on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Many will find putting in a few hours on Tues and Thursdays is helpful to clean and process instruments and prepare for the cases that lie ahead. The hours are flexible and can somewhat be adapted to the right applicant's schedule. Benefits are also on option based on the hours worked.
Duties are as follows:
1. Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure
2. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and
medications/solutions needed for procedure
3. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before
incision is closed
4. Works with surgical team to ensure all patients are well cared for and surgeries run smoothly.
5. Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure
6. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization
7. Cleans rooms post procedures and in-office surgeries
8. Preps room for the next patient
9. Assists with surgical procedures
10. Talks with family, explains discharge procedures and ensures patient understanding of pre and post operative care, confirms follow-up appointments
11. Answer phones, greets patients, update and file medical records, schedule appointments, arrange for hospital admission and laboratory services
12. Understand and become efficient in use of office EMR system.
13. Prep and manage set up and clean up for all in-office procedures.
14. Manages orders and stocking for in-office surgical supplies.
15. Surgical Scrub will at time be involved in post-surigcal care of patients.
