Yesterday, we celebrated the service and commitment of Renee Barreth. Renee has faithfully served our residents and staff for the past 4 years as the Activity Director. She puts her heart, faith, and care into everything she does. We wish her well as she goes to serve the residents at our sister independent living community in Macon, The Gables at Wolf Creek as their Activity Director. We love and appreciate you Renee!

We'd like to give a big shout out and Congratulations to our new Activity Director, Hope Drummond! Hope graduated this week from Georgia College and State University this week with a degree in Public Health. We are so excited about her joining our team. She brings experience, lots of energy and ideas for activities and a compassionate spirit. Hope is a great asset to our community. Welcome Hope!

We celebrated Mom's this week with a Strawberry Themed Party. Thank you Calista Koche for your beautiful performance on the harp. Thank you to our Dietary Staff for the yummy strawberry shortcake, chocolate dipped strawberries and strawberry punch.

Did I hear someone say it's May already. I guess I did.and The Cottages of Milledgeville know how to do Derby weekend. Friday, we had our own Kentucky Derby Celebration with the fancy hats and feasted on turkey and cheese sliders, develed eggs and banana pudding made by our Dietary Department oh I almost forgot to mention the mint Juleps. We were entertained by the harmonious voices of the Southern Style Quartet. It made for a great beginning of a new month.

Well we ended April we'll at The Cottages of Milledgeville. We had a floral themed birthday tea party while listening to Roger Freeman entertain us. The residents pulled it off and surprised the Activity Director, Renee Barreth with a surprise farewell get together. The incoming Activity Director, Hope Drummond facilitated a fun filled Name That Tune and the Thursday Night Group Trivia was a blast

What a great week. Monday, Patty Zoeller lead the residents in some chair dancing.There were 22 of us for Taco Tuesday at Jalisco Mexican Restaurant and they were delicious. Wednesday we said goodbye to GSCU Music Therapy student, Katie Slaten. Thank you Katie for all of the fun musical activities this past semester. Thursday we decided to kill two birds with one stone, we watched our Atlanta Braves win while playing bingo. We concluded our week with a April Birthday Floral Tea Party with entertainer Roger Freeman.

We had a terrific week. We want to thank Mr. Robert Johnson for coming and sharing the interesting presentation of his home state of Alaska. We learned lots of fascinating facts about bears and viewed beautiful photo and video footage of this amazing piece of our country. Our GCSU Music Therapy Student, Katie Slaten played her violin and guitar and sang nostalgic songs from years gone by. We even had time to go to The Derby and residents watched as the rolled dice to get their horse over the finish line.
