Some people ask our staff "how do we do what we do for a living"?
The answer is simple....

One of our most upbeat clients got some news that wasn't so great and when staff asked how he was doing his response was...

"I have a reason to get up every morning and that's Woods" 💕

If that isn't a reminder of why our staff is in this line of work than I dont know what is.

Woods impacts our clients more than most realize and our clients make lasting imprints on our staff. Each of them filling our day to day lives and our hearts with love and happiness.

A patient in New York has become the first in the state to be declared cured of sickle cell anemia following advanced treatment. This marks a major milestone for a disease that affects millions worldwide.

The breakthrough was achieved using gene-based therapy, where a patient’s own blood stem cells are modified to correct the underlying genetic defect. Once reinfused, these cells begin producing healthy red blood cells instead of the sickle-shaped ones.

Sickle cell anemia causes severe pain, organ damage, and a significantly reduced quality of life. For decades, treatment focused only on managing symptoms rather than offering a true cure.

Recent approvals of gene therapies in the U.S. have accelerated real-world applications, allowing hospitals to begin offering curative options under strict medical protocols. New York’s case signals that this science is now moving beyond trials.

While the treatment is complex and expensive, researchers believe wider adoption and future innovation could make cures more accessible. This moment represents a turning point in genetic medicine and blood disorder treatment.

Today, we enjoyed our Thanksgiving Feast with our family and friends at Woods. Old friends gone and missed, new friends gathered around celebrating all we are thankful for💕
We are truly blessed every day we have to spend with one another.

Thank you, to The Women's Ministry of New Life Fellowship International Ministries for taking the time out of their day to come and thank the staff at Woods for all they do for the seniors in the community. It was such a beautiful morning and was very uplifting for all involved.
