Happy to Mary Nickerson of Visiting Angels Nashua, NH! Mary was recognized as one of the 2026 Caregiver of the Year semi-finalists!

“Mary beautifully models our mission through compassion, dignity, and a deep respect for the human spirit, instilling hope and comfort in families during life’s most difficult moments. During caring for her client with advanced Alzheimer’s disease Mary was intentional about preserving her dignity—making sure she was dressed, wearing a touch of makeup and jewelry, and out of bed so her son could experience visits that felt loving and reassuring rather than distressing. Through these acts, Mary brings the Visiting Angels mission to life—offering hope, dignity, and peace when families need it most.”

Today, we want to take a moment to celebrate a truly beautiful soul 💙

"Our sweet client is more than just someone we serve—she’s a light. Kind, graceful, and full of warmth, she brings such joy every time we see her. The way she carries herself, the love she shares, and the genuine sweetness in her spirit never go unnoticed.

Norma we are so incredibly thankful for you. It’s an honor to know you and to be part of your journey in even the smallest way. You are deeply appreciated and so very loved!"

Shoutout to Itzel for being "Caught Being An Angel"!

A grateful family recently shared these words:
“Itzel has been an unwavering, gentle champion for Bruce throughout the past 18 months. She even reached out to adjust her own schedule to 5a-9a, just so Bruce would have a comforting presence to support him during his most difficult hours.”

Shouts to Mytasha of Visiting Angels McKinney, TX, for getting caught being an angel!

"Earlier this year, we asked all of our caregivers to capture a snapshot of themselves and their clients for a contest. We received many wonderful submissions, but first place went to Mytasha! She sent us a wonderful picture of her and her client, and included a paragraph talking about how much fun they were having together. What really shocked us was that she did all of this ON HER FIRST VISIT! Way to go, Mytasha!"

Today, on Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Visiting Angels of Central Maryland is proud to recognize Linda Akoto as our Quarterly “Heart of Service” Award Winner. ❤️

For the past three years, Linda has made an extraordinary impact on more than 20 clients and their families through her compassionate caregiving and unwavering commitment to quality care. As a dedicated Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) participant, Linda joined Visiting Angels while searching for a meaningful career that would allow her to support her family while standing beside her military spouse through the unique challenges of military life.

Before beginning her caregiving journey in America, Linda proudly served as a police officer in her home country. Today, she brings those same values of service, protection, trust, and compassion into the homes of every client she serves. Linda believes her greatest responsibility is helping clients feel safe, understood, respected, and cared for while building meaningful relationships with them and their families. She accomplishes this through her genuine spirit, compassionate heart, and deep passion for serving others.

While balancing caregiving responsibilities, supporting her military husband and daughter through constant change and long separations, Linda also recently achieved an incredible personal milestone — earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity Technology.

Linda shares:
“Balancing family, school, and work has never been easy, but it has taught me strength, patience, and a deep sense of purpose.”

Today we celebrate Linda not only for the care she provides, but for the resilience, dedication, and heart she demonstrates every single day.

Please join us in congratulating Linda Akota, our Hearts of Service Award Winner! 🎉 💙
