"Father forgive them for they know not what they do" This does not mean forgetting nor does it mean there are no consequences or someone gets a "free pass" for what they did. It means letting go of the anger, hurt, outrage within yourself so you can process the grief to eventually live in peace. There needs to be consequences for the actions otherwise it will just keep happening.
