Week one of a two week class of learning how to appliqué stitch using a sewing machine! I took 3 other classes on how to hand appliqué stitch, which were challenging but so fun, so we shall see how hand appliqué stitching and machine appliqué stitching compare. :)

I’m learning collage quilting! You find a photo, you make it black + white, blow up a photo to a poster print, trace you pattern with tracing paper, pick your fabrics, put fusible (steam a seam 2), rearrange your slightly sticky pieces on parchment paper overlaying the tracing paper you drew on, and voila! You made a collage quilt! It’s addictive, so much that I can’t stop thinking about it all day at work lol

Part 1 of my photo dump from this weekend’s Blackstone Quilting retreat! A lot of these photos are projects from super gifted people, I am not at that stage yet! But I did finish piecing my first quilt and all I have left is the binding and then ::gulp:: I’m going to try to quilt it myself lol I’ll post a part 2 cuz I have more photos :) special shout out to my table mates Jessica x2 .c.mccurry , Melanie , Suzy , and Sienna! I hope we can see one another again soon at an open sew or at someone’s house! And Melanie if you want to come up from NJ you’re free to crash at my place! ❤️

Jenny Xie, LMT graduated CCRI Newport with a Certificate in Therapeutic Massage in January 2015. She has been studying energy work and reflexology since 2011, and feels an affinity for Eastern therapies that assist the body in clearing blocks and balancing the body’s energetic system. Jenny’s massage style is a mix of slow and deep therapeutic Myofascial work, coupled with Cupping, CoreStones and and energy work, enabling her to address her clients’ issues in a unique way.
