Cerebral palsy affects more than movement—it can also impact oral health 🦷💙. Because of muscle tightness, coordination challenges, and certain medications, people with CP may face:
😬 Higher risk of gum disease
🦷 Tooth enamel wear from grinding
🍭 Cavities from difficulty brushing or side effects of meds
🪥 Trouble keeping up with daily oral care routines
But here’s the good news—small steps can make a BIG difference:
✔️ Use an electric toothbrush (easier grip + more effective cleaning)
✔️ Floss holders or water flossers can make cleaning between teeth easier
✔️ Break oral care into small, manageable steps
✔️ Regular dental visits help catch problems early and keep gums healthy
💙 At our office, we welcome patients of all abilities. Every smile deserves care, patience, and support. If you or a loved one has CP, know that we’re here to adapt, listen, and make dental care as comfortable as possible.
Because dental health isn’t just about teeth—it’s about dignity, confidence, and quality of life.
