🌟 Office Staff Spotlight: Milton Scheduler 🌟

Today, we’re excited to shine a light on one of the incredible team members who keeps our Milton office running smoothly every single day!

Please help us celebrate Christen, our dedicated Scheduler, whose hard work, compassion, and calm-under-pressure presence make a difference for both our caregivers and our clients.

Christen goes above and beyond for our IHH family—whether she’s navigating last-minute schedule changes, supporting caregivers, coordinating client needs, or simply offering a kind word on a tough day. Her reliability, positivity, and work ethic truly embody what Independent Home Health stands for.

💬 Here’s a little more about Christen, in her own words:

🌟What is your role at IHH, and what does a typical day look like for you?
- Scheduler. My typical day consists of checking the call dashboard and fixing any errors, going through appointments and making sure shifts were covered the day before and if not, then missing them with explanations of why they were missed. Then checking the prebilling and fixing the POC checklist. After I review those, I check emails and address issues or make phone calls. I go through my calendar to see if there are any meet and greets that day and text caregivers to remind them. I also look through the client needs hour list and try to match them up with caregivers. I consistently check dashboard and broadcasted shifts to see if there are any changes. I also attend meetings, provide updates, communicate with families for staffing updates, take calls from caregivers who need off or are calling off. I then help find replacements for the call offs.

🌟What do you enjoy most about working with IHH?
- I really like connecting people with others that can help them and are a good match. It is helpful to have the support through the office staff as well.

🌟What's one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
- I hate driving. I can rap Wu Tang-Mystery of Chessboxin

🌟What's something you do behind the scenes that people might not realize helps keep things running smoothly?
- I'm not sure I do anything behind the scenes, I think I am pretty transparent and communicate with others what I am doing so that everyone is on the same page.

🌟Outside of work, what are some hobbies or activities you enjoy?
- Hanging out with family, live shows, crafts, tie dying, traveling, naps.

🍂 “Fall Back” Home Safety Checklist 🍁

When it’s time to turn the clocks back, it’s also the perfect reminder to check on home safety!

Here’s a quick Fall Back Home Safety Checklist to help protect your loved ones — especially seniors living at home:

🕯 Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors – Replace batteries and test alarms.

💡 Add extra lighting – Shorter days mean darker evenings. Make sure hallways and stairs are well-lit.

🪜 Prevent falls – Secure rugs, clear pathways, and add non-slip mats in bathrooms.

🔌 Inspect space heaters and cords – Keep them away from curtains or bedding.

🥶 Prepare for colder temps – Check that heating systems work, and emergency blankets are handy.

💊 Review medications – Ensure refills are current and labeled clearly.

A few small steps can make a big difference in keeping your home safe this season. 🏡💙

💙We have incredible caregivers here at Independent Home Health! This month's Caregiver Spotlight is dedicated to Kasey! We are so proud to have her be a part of the IHH Team! Let's get to know a little bit about her:

1. How did you become a caregiver?
- "My sister-in-law got me interested in becoming a caregiver when she got a job taking care of her cousin. She said how rewarding this field is and how much he appreciated everything she did for him every single day; warmed my heart."

2. What do you enjoy most about your job?
- "I enjoy, most of all, the different people from all walks of life I get the chance to work for every single day. It really opens my eyes and lets me appreciate how we are unique in our own ways."

3. What is the one thing you wish people knew about your job?
- "How fantastic this type of job is and yes it can be very hard work but once you get a routine down it is very easy going, rewarding, and makes the day go so much better. We all have different ways of doing things and there is always more than one way to do a task. So, you just have to try different ideas until you find a solution that works for you and your client."

4. What is a skill or hobby you have outside of work?
- "I do a lot of volunteer work for the Kiwanis Club of Sullivan County Pennsylvania. They are such an amazing club, and they greatly help out their community, and they do so many different programs for the children in the county."

5. What is something you're obsessed with currently?
- "I am very much interested in succeeding at this career, keep trying to do the best I can for all of my clients, and hopefully get promotions, and being a great caregiver that can hopefully get a great reference from other clients when I have the opportunity to work for a new client. Also, to keep doing this job that I love, it is a great career if you would give it a chance. Please take my word on how awesome this field is to work for. I just know that you will love it as much as I do."

1. How did you become a caregiver?
- "I was 12 years old, my grandfather got sick. My mom worked fulltime, my great grandmother was too old to lift him and take care of him. I was just a little girl going into the 7th grade. I moved in with them for the summer and absolutely loved the smiles they both had every morning when they woke up to breakfast on the table, to playing cards and drinking tea. I lost my grandfather a year later, I knew it then being a caregiver was what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to make people smile, I wanted to give them family that was there every day no matter what. I wanted to give them a feeling of purpose!"

2. What do you enjoy most about your job?
- "Putting a smile on my clients face and letting them live their best life!"

3. What is the one thing you wish people knew about your job?
- "It's more than personal care! It's about companionship! You must love your job to truly be a caretaker."

4. What is a skill or hobby you have outside of work?
- "Being a mother to two daughters, video gaming, and binge-watching shows."

5. What is something you're obsessed with currently?
- "The teenage years of girls and sharing those secrets you only tell your best friends!"
