This one-year internship program is designed for individuals passionate about holistic health, herbal medicine, and natural healing. Under the leadership of Dr. Lakeeta Watts and Community Partners, interns will gain hands-on experience in creating vitamins, cell salts, and natural medicine, while also learning to manage a healing garden and apothecary.
Interns will explore the principles of holistic health and discover how to turn their passion into a sustainable career as a holistic practitioner, herbalist, or community health leader.
Program Structure
1. Hands-On Training in Natural Medicine
Interns will learn to create high-quality, natural supplements using holistic and homeopathic methods.
This includes:
✔ Whole-Food-Based Vitamins – Making nutrient-dense supplements using herbal tinctures, powders, fermentation, and liposomal methods.
✔ Cell Salts & Mineral-Based Remedies – Mastering the homeopathic trituration process to create bioavailable cell salts.
✔ Herbal Medicine Making – Crafting tinctures, syrups, salves, and teas for holistic healing.
2. Healing Garden & Apothecary Management
Interns will work hands-on in cultivating a healing garden and managing a community apothecary, learning:
✔ How to Grow & Harvest Medicinal Plants – Understanding soil health, companion planting, and seasonal cycles.
✔ Herbal Identification & Wildcrafting – Safely foraging and processing wild herbs.
✔ Apothecary Organization & Stocking – Managing inventory, tracking herbal potency, and preparing medicine.
3. Business & Career Development in Holistic Health
Interns will gain entrepreneurial skills and explore career pathways in holistic medicine.
Topics include:
✔ The Business of Natural Medicine – Ethical sourcing, pricing, and marketing holistic products.
✔ Becoming a Integrative Medicine Practitioner – Understanding certifications, legalities, and scope of practice.
✔ Community Health Leadership – Learning how to educate and empower communities through natural medicine.
Additional Growth Opportunities
Interns will have opportunities to:
✔ Work on independent research or herbal formulations under Dr. Watts’ mentorship.
✔ Participate in community outreach and wellness workshops.
✔ Apply for advanced mentorship roles in holistic health education and product development.
Internship Commitment & Application
✔ Duration: 1 Year
✔ Time Commitment: 10-15 hours per week
✔ Location: Hybrid (In-person for hands-on work, virtual for business and holistic practitioner education)
✔ Eligibility: Open to aspiring herbalists, doulas, holistic practitioners, and community health workers.
