🌿 What is Placenta Encapsulation?

Placenta encapsulation is the process of dehydrating, grinding, and placing the placenta into capsules for postpartum consumption. It’s based on the belief that the placenta retains essential nutrients and hormones that can support postpartum recovery.

🔬 Potential Benefits:

✔️ Hormonal Balance – May help regulate postpartum hormone shifts, reducing mood swings and baby blues.
✔️ Increased Energy – The iron content in the placenta may combat postpartum fatigue and help with energy levels.
✔️ Boosted Milk Supply – Some mothers report increased breast milk production.
✔️ Faster Recovery – Placenta capsules may aid in postpartum healing by replenishing essential nutrients.
✔️ Reduced Postpartum Bleeding – The placenta contains oxytocin, which may help the uterus contract more efficiently.

💊 Methods of Encapsulation:
1. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Method – The placenta is steamed with warming herbs, dehydrated, and then ground into powder.
2. Raw Method – The placenta is dehydrated without steaming, preserving more natural enzymes and nutrients.

❗ Things to Consider:
• Placenta encapsulation is not FDA-approved, but many mothers swear by its benefits.
• Always choose a trained encapsulation specialist who follows proper safety and sanitation protocols.
• The experience varies—some mothers see great results, while others notice little to no effect.

Schools & Daycares Closed… Now What?

We know this snowstorm has a lot of parents feeling frustrated, especially here in Milwaukee. Closures can cause stress, but it’s important to understand how the system works and how we, as parents, can stay prepared.

Did you know?
Most childcare providers follow the local school district’s closure guidelines. This adds credibility to their program and ensures structure and safety—it’s not just a “babysitting” service. This alignment shows that your child is in a quality environment with professional standards.

However, some daycares do remain open.
This is why having backup options is key!

Here are a few tips:
• Have at least 2 backup daycare options in place.
• You can be enrolled in more than one program as long as you meet payment deadlines (usually before the 1st of the month).
• Plan ahead for non-emergency school closures, but understand snow days can still be unpredictable.

At Omuri Shai Family Planning Sessions, we also discuss childcare planning because we know parenting is more than just birth—it’s about having a village and being prepared.

Coming Soon:
We’re creating a Resource List of Childcare Centers & In-Home Daycares to help parents stay ready when life happens.

Let’s be proactive, not reactive.
We’re here to support you every step of the way.
