Many of us grew up with the message: stay quiet, work hard, and don’t complain because that’s how our parents and grandparents survived. In many Asian families, speaking about feelings wasn’t encouraged; strength meant pushing through and carrying the responsibility without burdening others. That mindset built resilience, but it can also make it hard to talk about stress, anxiety, or depression today.
If you were raised this way and are realizing you don’t have to carry everything alone, therapy can be a space to finally say the things you were taught to hold in, reach out if you’re ready to start that conversation.
