Last night’s first Creative Commons was exactly what we hoped it would be: a warm room on a cold night, people making art side-by-side, and a whole lot of real connection. 🖤🎨
Thank you to everyone who showed up, created, shared space, and helped set the tone for what we want these gatherings to be: safe, inclusive, and genuinely community-building.

🧳✨ Creative Commons: Carrying Our Communities with Us ✨🧳

The holidays can stir up a lot—missing people, tense family dynamics, or feeling a little (or a lot) untethered. You don’t have to hold all of that alone.

On Wednesday 12.17.2025, 6:30–8:30PM at The Therapeutic Workshop (Bay View), we’ll gather to:
• Reimagine family as both biological and chosen community
• Explore what support and belonging look like for you
• Create tiny “suitcases of community” out of Altoid tins

You’ll fill your tin with symbols of your people and places of support—photos, tiny objects, words, colors, reminders of your worth, values, and needs.

We’ll provide: Altoid tins, collage supplies, beads, clay, paint, markers, buttons, wire, paper & more.
You’re welcome to bring any small meaningful materials of your own (photos, trinkets, etc.).

December: Carrying Our Communities With Us

The holidays can stir up a lot — joy, grief, nostalgia, tension, distance, connection. This month, we’re honoring the communities that hold us: biological, chosen, past, present, and emerging.

We’ll be creating tiny “suitcases of community” using Altoid tins — filling them with pieces that represent the people and places that support you, your values, and the reminders you may need this season.
Bring a photo, a trinket, or anything meaningful if you’d like.

🎨 Materials Provided:
Altoid tins, collage supplies, beads, clay, paint, markers, buttons, wire, paper, and more.

This is a community art gathering, not a therapy group — just a creative space to connect, make something, and feel supported.

✨ Our first Make Me workshop was incredible! ✨
We’re still feeling so grateful after such a meaningful morning of art, reflection, and connection. It was powerful to be part of folks coming together in a supportive, low-key space to create, share, and feel seen.

We’re already looking forward to the next session and would love to welcome more folks who might benefit from this kind of creative community.

🌈 “The Valar and the Fluidity of Being”

What if gender wasn’t a box, but a song?
In Tolkien’s world, the Valar — the divine beings who shaped Middle-earth — weren’t bound by biology. They’re spirits, taking form as they choose. Masculine, feminine, both, neither — their shape reflects who they are, not what they’re “supposed” to be.

Tolkien imagined a cosmos where gender is expression, not limitation — a creative act, like art or music.
That’s something we love about fantasy: it gives us language for what’s already true in our world.

Queerness, transness, and gender fluidity aren’t mistakes in the song — they’re essential harmonies.
At The Therapeutic Workshop, we celebrate the courage it takes to live in tune with your truest self — whether through story, therapy, or both.
