She enjoys putting donuts in the bakery cabinet, portioning salad dressing/ condiments into small containers and scooping ice cream at our weekly ice cream sundae event. Ilse, thank you for everything you do!

Schlitz Audubon Nature Center: Owls: Designed for Darkness

Last week, the owl ambassadors and staff of Schlitz Audubon provided first-hand encounters with these rarely seen raptors. The audience explored the adaptations that make owls successful predators of the night and interact with artifacts. Participants gained an appreciation for their nocturnal neighbors and the invaluable role they play in the ecosystem.

Recently, members of our leadership team, attended North Shore Chamber of Commerce's Annual Awards Banquet which honored those who contribute to the success of our community. Our own Chief People Officer, Keshia Exum-Pryor, was invited to present the first award of the night - New Business of the Year award - to Bright Beginnings Pediatric Chiropractic.

The North Shore Chamber of Commerce celebrated sponsors, volunteers, community members, as well as area businesses that personify the spirit of entrepreneurship, pride and success.

Former Milwaukee Mayor, Tom Barrett spoke to a full house at Saint John's today.

Barrett has had a remarkable public policy career beginning in the state legislature as a state representative and state senator, then elected to the United States Congress where he served five terms.

After his time in Washington, he returned home to serve as mayor of Milwaukee, winning five elections. Most recently, he represented the United States as Ambassador to Luxembourg for three years.

A frequent visitor to Saint John's, he discussed his time as Ambassador to one of America's staunchest allies.

Thank you to all the resident and staff who volunteered and made our Doors Open event on Saturday a big success. Nearly 260 visitors came by and toured Saint John's.

According to the tour guides, the visitors had only great things to say about our campus. Visitors were heard saying things such as:

"Wow!"

"So, glad we stopped in, this place is beautiful!"

"Didn't expect there would be so much to see."

"The chapel is so beautiful!"

"The artwork is amazing!"

"The views from the beautiful restaurant are stunning."

"All the flowers and gardens on the plaza are a beautiful oasis in the city."

"I want to live here when I retire."

It was very rewarding to all of us to hear your fantastic comments!

Thank you to the walkers and donors who helped us raise more than $4,000 for Alzheimer’s Research during our “Someone We Love Needs A Cure - Alzheimer's Walk at Saint John's.”

This year, we brought the Walk to End Alzheimer's to our campus to support Alzheimer's research and highlight Saint John's commitment to the Positive Approach to Care.

Our neighbors at the Milwaukee Catholic Home and Ovation Communities joined us for the day’s events included an Opening Ceremony on the Plaza, followed by a 1-mile indoor route and a 1.1- mile outdoor route. And then, to top it all off, we enjoyed a gathering with treats and great conversation!

These beautiful flowers, created by participants of Saint John’s Community Café, adorn the atrium windows over our Plaza.

Community Cafés, led by Harper Marten, emphasize inclusivity and help normalize the experience of living with cognitive loss, reducing stigma and promoting dignity for those affected.
