Garland Yoga

Garland Yoga Classes are taught by Judy Weiss (Ma Deva Kalpana) owner of Garland Yoga. She is certified through the College of Purna Yoga.

Judy has been teaching for over 15 years, and has been a student of yoga for over 20 years. All Garland Yoga classes are taught with a profound respect for the integrity of each posture, ensuring accuracy and the deepest possible benefits to your body, mind, and spirit. Classes are taught at a pace that aligns with the current level and ability of each student, thereby respecting their bodies and individual needs. Yoga props such as blocks, belts, chairs, and blankets ensure that the postures are accessible to all students of every age and physical ability. Yoga provides a new sense of liberation in your body, as you gain flexibility in your hamstrings, hips, and shoulders, as well as a renewed overall strength and vitality in your entire body. Yoga connects you to your breath, giving you greater lung capacity and assisting in the release of chronic stress and tension. In this way you will be given the opportunity to explore the radiance of your own body and life. Meditation is a heart-centered practice and is taught in a manner that makes it accessible for everyone, regardless of life style. Simple mediation techniques will provide the tools to slow down and center the mind, providing a sense of calm joyfulness.

This is such a beautiful Full Moon for Valentine’s Day! The Snow Moon shines its beams into the sign of Leo ruled by the Sun, the quintessential Pitta celestial body. Leo's especially may feel more empowered to step onto center stage and act and speak from the song or prayer of your heart and soul.

Sundays have been dedicated to making staple foods for the week. This week we have yogurt, ghee, and coconut milk. Oh and apple muffins for good measure. My beautiful Ayurvedic Practitioner Heather Burkhart has me busy in the kitchen! Using our own hands to prepare our foods is central to deeply nourishing our bodies and understanding food as medicine. It is a very satisfying "sadhana" or practice! 🙏

Today the health benefits of yoga are so well known, that the idea of taking a yoga class is quite intriguing and alluring. And yet, if you have never been in a yoga class, you may feel somewhat unsure if you're body is ready for the experience. In this situation I encourage private lessons as a preface to joining a class. It is a great way to dip in your toes and build confidence at a slower pace.
