Dear Relatives,
We’re thrilled to announce one of our speakers for the 9th Annual CAM™ & Red Sands Event!
Join us at UW-Milwaukee for a powerful day of healing as we come together as a community to honor Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Relatives (MMIWR) through art, storytelling, and community care.
We are deeply honored and excited to welcome Marla Mahkimetas as one of our speakers for this year’s event! Marla is a doctorate-level practitioner, lifelong learner, and dedicated educator. She is the founder and coordinator of the annual canoe journey Omaeqnomenew Maeqtekos Otameskaw (Menominee Canoe Journey), now celebrating its 17th year. In June 2020, Marla experienced firsthand the devastating impact of MMIWR. Since then, her work has focused even more deeply on healing—embracing the balance of our female and male responsibilities of protection, empowerment, and self-love. Mahkimetas’s presence will make this year’s gathering truly unforgettable.
This is a free community event, but we encourage all relatives to RSVP today:
