My journey in massage therapy began around the age of seven when my back was aching from dance lessons. A family friend of mine gave me a short massage to relieve the pain. It seemed as though someone could locate the area of my body where I was experiencing discomfort, apply pressure, and relieve my tension. I was fascinated and began to explore the possibilities of this type of therapy by providing massage for family and friends. Even then helping others was a calling for me. I continued on to study psychology, yoga, dance, and anatomy to better my understanding of the human mind and body. About 14 years later I was offered an opportunity to study Thai Massage and it changed my life forever. Receiving therapy was an integral part of my training and though I had received extensive massage therapy in the past, this was the first time I had ever truly felt different after a massage session. Thai massage uses the body, gravity, acupressure, deep tissue massage, and many other techniques to provide a whole body experience. Starting at the feet and working to the crown of the head, the therapist works through all of the body's systems to thoroughly realign, readjust, relieve, and relax. My prior experience provided the prerequisite background necessary to learn and perform the massage techniques with ease and precision. It has been a journey on its own to truly hone the skills required to provide therapy personalized for each individual who entrusts me to help them heal. I feel I am finally ready to share this experience with those near and far who seek to heal the trauma and stress one may accrue through life.
