Bebe Moore Campbell was an American author, journalist, teacher, and mental health advocate, who led the national movement to bring awareness to the mental health needs of the black community and other underrepresented communities.

We recognize that BIPOC and Minority Mental Health Matters, this month and every month. It is critical that we consider the unique mental health factors that impact historically marginalized and underserved racial and ethnic communities - it can be lifesaving.

“Diet Culture: How to cope with the negative impact it has on college and graduate student’s mental health and their relationship with food and their body image” a presentation by Melissa Schneider, MA, LPC, CIR from the Counseling Center at MU will be held on Feb. 26, at 5:30 pm in the Weasler Auditorium. This event is open to all students, faculty, staff, and the community and is additionally available virtually through Microsoft Teams.

If you struggle with keeping up with unrealistic expectations for yourself, feelings of failure or thoughts around “not being good enough” or if you have a student, family member, friend or loved one that experiences these thoughts, this event will give you an opportunity to take a new, more flexible approach to address these thoughts/beliefs for yourself and those you care about.
