We are proud to be a Life Plan Community located on Milwaukee’s East Side, and our unique approach to living allows our residents to maximize their potential for a healthy and prosperous senior living experience. Our fundamental approach is that people, regardless of age, never stop learning, growing, achieving or enjoying life, and our philosophy focuses on personal empowerment that leads to a rich senior living experience with attention to health, community involvement, and happiness. Eastcastle Place offers residents a full continuum of care, from our elegant, independent retirement living and historic apartments to our memory care, assisted living, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation. Our full spectrum of healthcare and living options provides peace of mind to residents and their families and allows residents to be their best at any age. Our distinctive location on Milwaukee’s East Side provides endless cultural and community opportunities for fine dining, boutique shopping, lakefront activities and the continual bustle and energy of Downer Avenue. Our 138 year history has cemented us firmly within our community, but our focus today is providing our residents opportunities for fulfillment and happiness during each stage of their senior years.

✨ A Rare Glimpse Into a Modern Masterpiece ✨
At Eastcastle Place, we’re fortunate to be surrounded by residents whose lives intersect with extraordinary stories. Today, resident Margaret Schoewe shared a special window into one of them with a behind-the-scenes video of The Saint John’s Bible.
Margaret walked alongside a dear friend who served as one of the artists and illuminators for The Saint John’s Bible—the first handwritten, illuminated Bible created since the invention of the Gutenberg Press.
This remarkable 1,100 page work took 15 years to complete, crafted by a global team of artists and scribes who blended ancient techniques with contemporary perspectives. The result is nothing short of breathtaking.
Whether you come from a particular faith tradition or simply appreciate extraordinary craftsmanship, this is a story of art, dedication, and human creativity that resonates with everyone.

✨ Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ✨
Today, we pause to reflect on the life and legacy of a leader whose courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to justice reshaped our nation. Dr. King reminded us that progress is possible when we choose hope over fear, unity over division, and action over silence.

As we celebrate MLK Day, may we carry his message forward — not just in words, but in the way we treat one another, the causes we support, and the communities we build.
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Let’s keep striving for the world he dreamed of.

🌿✨ Eastcastle Place had the pleasure of welcoming Roselyn Smolej‑Hill, Director of Planned & Major Giving at the Nature & Culture Museum of Wisconsin (formerly the Milwaukee Public Museum).

Roselyn shared an inspiring look into how this beloved institution—home to more than 4 million specimens and cultural artifacts—is evolving into a state‑of‑the‑art museum in the heart of downtown Milwaukee.

The museum’s transformation is more than a new building. It’s a renewed commitment to celebrating the interwoven stories of Wisconsin’s landscapes, its diverse peoples, and their global connections. Through immersive exhibits, innovative educational programs, and deep community engagement, the Nature & Culture Museum is shaping a space where curiosity thrives and history comes alive.

We’re grateful to Roselyn for giving our community a glimpse into the future of this remarkable cultural treasure. Milwaukee has so much to look forward to as this next chapter unfolds. 🌎💫
