💡 Industry Disruptor

Are you a high-achieving, highly successful woman questioning Autism or ADHD? Do you feel different than everyone else, like you're not "normal?"

Do feel socially awkward and experience sensory concerns? You are hardworking and goal-oriented, but often feel overwhelmed to the point of feeling like you are having a meltdown. You strive to put your needs first, but struggle with perfectionism and

self-limiting beliefs. It’s exhausting feeling out of control, but the good news is, together, we can help you discover your authentic self, accommodate your own needs, and develop effective coping skills so you can excel in life. As the industry leading specialist for adult female Autism & ADHD, I will help you learn how your neurodivergent brain works, and what your true core beliefs are, so you can be you and stop masking to try to "fit in" to society. As a highly driven, successful Autistic & ADHD person, I connect with you on a deeper level. Our boutique practice takes a neuroaffirming approach, in a discrete virtual space. We value discretion and view you as a complete human being, without being defined by your status. We aim to assist you in finding the freedom and validation that you deserve. In light of the current political climate in America and its global impact, I am issuing a formal statement on behalf of myself, my practices NeuroJess and Neurolicity, and my colleagues at these practices.

Our foremost priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients and team members.

We have always, and will continue to, reject discriminatory beliefs and worldviews that cause harm to marginalized identities. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for anyone who perpetuates hate speech in their work with us.

We uphold the utmost respect and professionalism for our clients’ diverse political affiliations, cultural identities, and religious beliefs. In return, we expect to receive the same level of respect that we extend.

As staunch advocates for social justice, we are unwavering in our commitment to protecting and upholding the rights of our clients and all human beings. We do not subscribe to the ideology of “staying silent” to placate those with bigoted beliefs.

We acknowledge that our practice policies may not align with everyone's beliefs, thus we encourage such individuals to seek services at institutions that better suit their needs.

Our practices and team members will remain a sanctuary during these challenging times, and we vow to stand in solidarity with you in the fight against oppression.

Sincerely,

Jess Pliszka, LPC, NCC, ASD-CCSP, ADHD-CCSP

🏅 As we cheer on our incredible athletes during the Olympics, let’s remember to support them through both their triumphs and their struggles.

They are human, just like us, and their journey is filled with highs and lows.

Observers often forget that these incredible individuals are NOT performing machines.

In my work with professional athletes, I witness on an intimate level the immense pressure they place on themselves and their deep desire not to disappoint their fans.

It breaks my heart to hear firsthand from these wonderful, dedicated individuals how negative comments and criticism can harm their self-esteem and mental health.

Our athletes don't need their fans and viewers to be hard on them; they're already their own harshest critics.

Remember, seeing someone on TV doesn't mean you truly know them. You don't see the personal struggles they face, or what goes on behind the scenes, so it's never right to pick them apart.

So, let’s encourage and support our athletes as they compete in the biggest event in the world; they so deserve it! ♥️

Not having support from family is one of the most isolating and ostracizing feelings. If you can use that experience to build your own self-worth and confidence, it will change your life.

Always do what is best for you, and NEVER feel sorry for setting boundaries with family members who violate your human rights.

Being the person to break generational trauma patterns is not easy, but it is necessary. Whether it feels like it or not, you are actually healing your entire family system by rewriting a maladaptive dynamic that has been blindly perpetuated for years. Let it die with them, and not be continued on by you.

You are making positive change, and change is uncomfortable for many. Other people's emotional responses and discomfort with your boundaries is not your responsibility.

Bigotry is a CHOICE.

Racism, homophobia, transphobia, prejudice, hate, and discrimination are not innate, they are learned, which means they can be unlearned.

Deciding to perpetuate these ideas instead of challenging them, and not seeing things outside of your own point of view is sheer ignorance.

I know many wonderful older people who do not uphold bigoted, closed-minded beliefs.

Bigotry is UNACCEPTABLE at any age. No excuses.

Happy Autism Acceptance Month! ♾️

Please remember to listen to voices during the month of April (and year round!)

Here's a quick guide to the Dos and Don'ts for Autism Acceptance Month:

❌ Awareness
✅ Acceptance

Everyone is aware of Autism, this is not the concern; what is, is the lack of acceptance of Autistic individuals, which is the main thing we ask for in our society.

❌ Puzzle Pieces
✅ Infinity Symbol

We are not broken, and do not have any "puzzle pieces missing." We are whole human beings who have unique ways of perceiving and interacting with the world. By using the infinity symbol, we are able to covey the vast spectrum of experiences for Autistic individuals, and the strengths and challenges we have.

❌ Blue
✅ Red

Blue was the original color chosen for Autism "awareness" and was chosen based predominantly on the stereotype that Autism only affects boys. Obviously, this is incorrect, so we collectively chose red to represent all Autistic people, including both children and adults, amplifying our voices, instead of having neurotypicals speak for us.

⚠️ Please remember to support and not placate or demean your Autistic loved ones during our month of acceptance. Autistic people are not to be infantilized, but instead should be empowered to be themselves, and accomodate their needs so that they can live their best lives, without limitations from others.

Remember that Autism is not a disease, deficit, or mental disorder, it is a NEUROTYPE. This means our brains are formed differently, and different does not equal bad or wrong. ♥️

Neurodivergent people tend to have a deeper connections with animals than with people.

We don't view our pets as something we "own," but like family members.

The bond we have with them is incredibly deep and profound. I am eternally grateful for animals and their unconditional love. ❤️
