Books I’ve read as a doula & student midwife🤰🏿🧠📚.

#1 Ina Maya guide to child birth- I found this book was an invitation for me to explore a side of childbirth we don’t see often. Her work is fascinating and reading story after story of women’s journeys was for me very empowering. I am drawn to the idea of an organic, natural birth IF the body allows. This book is a wonderful resource to have so that you can understand ways to support labor rather youre the persom giving birth or birth support.

#2 - Nurturing your childs inner life- This book has, plenty of real-life stories and practical ideas about how parents (teachers, grandparents, baby-sitters, etc.) can nurture a child’s spiritual nature to help become the best they can be. The author gives great amazing insight abour the spiritual development of a child, from before birth through the age of 12.

#3- baby catcher- I appreciate this book so much. I couldn’t put it down, rhe birth storys were emotional, funny and tender. I felt so inspired when I finished. I enjoyed getting a glimpse behind the scenes of different deliveries from the perspective of a midwife. It was a realistic and empowering look at childbirth.

#4 the birth partner - a very informative read.
1 added this to my list of book
recommendations for spouses of the birthing parents to read. For DOULAS, Childbirth Educators, Community Health Workers — this will work a guide for you to keep it and re-read it as often as youd like, you will be likely find something new every time you read.

#5 - the womanly art of breastfeeding - (still reading) but, I recommend this book for all pregnant and lactating mothers. This read is filled with information on breastfeeding and taking care of babies.
